Cheshire, SK8 7NH Objects: The object of Wilmslow Wells for Africa is the relief of poverty ITh the continent of Africa by the provision of water for human consumption and irrigation. This may be achieved by the drilling of wells, the building of dams, the provision of storage tanks or any other means. Wilmslow Wells for Africa raises funds through donation5 and the efforts of a working committee. The provision of Clean drinking wMter promotes public health benefits and supports sustainable communities in some of th¢ poorest aTeas of the world. Operation of the Charity Projects are undertaken either directly with communities in Afric4 often through local Churches, or through other aid organisaiions ,hO have identified a water-related need. Money is only committed to projects by the Trustees when funds have been raised. Norn]ally the running costs &ssociated with wells, including maintenance, are the responsibility of the local community. Funds are rdised by a committ¢¢ which plans a Programme of events throughout the i.'¢ar. Monies are held mainly in an int¢r¢st-bearing account pending projects approNed by the TThtees. Its running costs have utilised £9.9J6 of this. This has left £1:400.041 (99.30/0 of fid$ raised) availabl¢ for its charitable objeclives. Of Ihis £l,J86.267 (99.00/0) has been spenl on over 250 projects. helping provide clean M'aler to local cornmunities. The proN'ision of readily accessible clean water helps reduce disease and eliminales the need to spend houTS each da), collecting wateT, often from unsafe sources. Activities during the vear: During the current vear the total income amounted to £59:934, details of which are set out in the attached accounts. We are very grateful for ihe support we receive for our work. In recent years we benefitted from hl'o extremely generous le&Jacies from long standing, supporters. These legacies significantl). increased our reserves. The Trustees are mindful of the need to utilise these fimds for our chariiable objecliv¢s and seek out appropria1¢ opp)rtunities whilst bearing in mind our grant erileria which include value for money and the ability to assess the l'iability. of the project. Our policy is to endeavow to manage our spending over a period of up to three Jears 'here such one-off donations occur. As we have tried to focus on smaller projects where major charities may not take an Rnterest it can take a year or two to retUTn back to our nornial reseTre levels. This has been achieved by the year end. Our fund-raising events continue to raise significant amounts despite the impact of Covid restrictions. We held our Garden da)'through YouTube videos and asked for donations through the Chariiies Aid Foundatioll donation button on our website. The remarkable result was thaL enhanced through Gift Aid, we raised a TecoTd amount in excess of £20,000, part of which was received afier the l'ear end. We also held iwo Souperdays, and a Bridge Drive and a Folk Night. In addition to ihe ongoing generous financial support of many who have worked with us over a number of }ears: supporters baked cakes and gave talks to schools and other groups our thanks go to all involved in this work. Gift cards are available for those who want to make a donation &8 a present for friends or family and have proved popular. Christm&s cards: tea towels and other textile goods are also available for sale. We have an increasing number of supporters have entered into regular monthly donations by stsnding OTder, often SUprted bj. Gift Al Detsils of this scheme and olGift Aid donations can be obtained from ihe Treasurer.

Our decisions to support projects aTe b&sed on cost, numbers of people helped, th¢ severity of the need and the viabilit. of the project. Detailed reports on the projects are included in our regyular newsletlers. Subsequenl to ihe year-end we haiie donated a further £7,025 towards 2 more projects and th'e are ai the eTraluation stage with a number of other proposals. All work carried out for the charity is on a volunlarv basis and there are no paid ernployees. Our website 'wMTh¥.ThilTn%loMTri'ells.or gives delails of fund-raising events, projects undertaken and our history. It also provides links enabling people to make donations online. The websile has generdted contacts from new donors and potential projects and partners. We hal'e received a number of donations through the internet as a result. If supporters wish to use the facility the). can donate via our ii'ebsite if they have a Charitie5 Aid Foundation account or by debit or ¢r¢dit card.
