The objects of Charity are to apply the income for general charitable purposes. There has been no change In the way the Trustees meet the objectives during the year. Although many of the grants made by the Trustees are repeated, the Trustees do not, as a maller of policy, feel obliged to repeat any specific grant. Management of the Charity.. All matters of policy management and recruiting, appointment, induction and training new trustees are determined by the Trustees. The Trustees must never be less than two in number. Pago2of11
THE AYLESFORD FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT AS AT 5 APRIL 2024 Review of Transactions and Financial Position: The net deficit of the Trust for the year ended 5 April 2024 amounted lo £53,307.Grants totalling £121,965 were made during the year. The Trust made net realised gains of £17,563 and net unrealised gains of £28,356 during the year. No new Trustees were appointed during the year. The existing Trustees are experienced in the affairs of the Charity. and will be given training as and when it is necessary. The object of the Trust is to donate money eamed from investments to the benefit of a range of Charities. most of these being small and local. This strategy was carried out during the year, the Trust making 71 donations ranging from £250 to £25,000. Our objects for next year remain the same and our strategy of making a large number of small donations will continue. Public Benefit: the Trustees have applied the guidan from the Charities Commission relating to Public Benefit when making donations. Public Benefit is inherent in the objects of the Charity. Investment Powers The Trustees, investment powers are govemed by the Trust Deed, which pemiits the Charity's funds to be invested in any security the Trustees see fit. The Trustees are advised in investment matters by Sarasin. Statement of Trustees. Responsibilities Charity Law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of its incoming resources and the application of those resources for that period. The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial posiiion of the Charity. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud or other irregularities. Risk and Reserve Policy The Trustees have established a policy of maintaining sufficient unrestricted funds in case of contingences. The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the trust is exposed, in particular those related to the operations and finances of the Trust and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate to the major risks. INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES OF THE AYLESFORD FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 5 April 2024 which are set out on the following pages. Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act'}. I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicabl8 Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent Examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect.. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act", or the accounts do not accord with those records; or the accounts do nol comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in th8 Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in wnnection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Accounting Policies Scope and basis of the financial statements The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, with the exception of investments which are Included at market valu8. They are in accordance with the applicable accounting standards and comply with the requirements of the Accounting and Reporting by Charities - Statement of Fkecommended Practlce and the Charities Act 2011. Income and Expendlture All income and expenditure is accounted for on a receipts and payments basis. Investments Investments on a recognised stock exchange are valued at market value at the year end.
