ACHIEVEMENTS IN 2021-2022
PRSSV continues to consolidate its core activities of
an Examinations Board and Music. classes while
developing its Heritsge funded projects. A pool of
volunteers continues to Increase alon8 Wlth
clientele through examinations work. tralnlng of
musicians and dancers.
The trustees of Pandit Ram Sahai Sangit Vidyalaya
present their annual report and accounts for the
year ended 31 March 2022.
CONSTITUTION
Pandit Ram Sahai Sangit Vidyalaya {"PRSSV'I was
established in December 1987 and registered as
charity on Isth February 1989. The affair5 of PR55V
are managed by trustees in accordance with the
trust deed dated 4th January 1989.
In this financial year PRSSV has continued to make
significant developments in some areas of its work
and its main achievements have been as follow5..
The PR5SV Examinatlons Board PRSSV Board
operates under the umbrella of the In5tltute for
Performing Arts and Heritage and provide5
examinations leading to .OCN Credit4Learnin8
accredited qualifications In World Music and
Dance, and In Heritage Skills. The institute
currently provides its examinations both onllne
and in person. The work of the Institute during thls
financial year has been to continue to.,
• increase the number of examlnations centres.
deliver robust trainin8 onllne for examlner5 and
5UPPOrt for teachers includlng Teacher
Training.
• develop the administration of examinatlons.
• improve the marketing of all our graded

AIMS
The aim of the charity Pandit Ram Sahai San8rt
Vidyalaya I'PRSSV") is to promote high standards
In the educatlon and performance primarily in
Indian and other World music. dance and related
art forms. PRSSV aims to educate the publlc in oral
art forms and to promote collaboratlons between
artists from dtfferent cultures.
OBJEcfivES
Pandit Ram Sahai San8lt Vldyalaya is a multi-
disciplinary art5 or8anisation with its focus on
providin8 a variety of activlties for all people
interested in the performing Arts of the Indian su
continent and in addition more recently, those
conne¢ted with the Eastern Caribbean. Through a
range of innovative projett5, It works to enhan
the practice, understandin8 and appreciation of
the music and dance of South Asia and related art
forms, and provision of Graded Examinations in
Steel Pan. Now in its 36 year. from its base in
West London it works with organisations and
artists nationally and internationally through its
network of affiliated organisations.
Sangeet College (SC) has a robust teachin8
programme that gives student5 a well-rounded
music and dance educatlon. It has formali5ed a
pro8ramme to provide advice and support for
teachers
communitv
organisations on
curriculum development and teaching.
The college provides training mainly in person but
has been able to increase access to a wider pool of
students through holding some classes online. It
Still has not been able to provide opportunitie5 for
Students to perform and to accompany each other
at live events.
In furtherance of its aims and objectives. the PRSSV

provide education. trainin& examinations work.

Pandlt Ram Sahai Sanglt Widyal?ya (PRSSV)
received a grant from the National Lottery Heritage
Fund to run a project, New Horizons: Accredited
training opportunities to sustain 3 legacy for World
Music Heritage. Through this project PRSSV has
developed partnerships with the Music Services in
a number of London Boroughs and expanded its
teacher training with Steel Pan. Hindustani and
Carnatic musicians.

Risk Assessment
The trustees have identlfied the major risks to
which the charity would be subjected to and are
tsking the necessary steps to mitlgate the same.
PUBLIC BENEFIT
The work of the Trust promoting Indian and other
oral music and dance traditions through education,
training and performance generates a considerable
public benefit. Firstly, its work is carried out
through a variety of activities and projetts that
ensure our beneficiaries are drawn from a wide
range of backgrounds and ethnic 8roups. These
include children and adults of all ages, members of
black, Asian and other ethnic groups, refugees,
people with disabllities, as well as amateurs and
professional performing South Asian artists and
artlsts form other disciplines and cultures.
Reserves
The Charity is intended to have available in
unrestritted reserves four months funding in
anticipation of potential future cuts. Additionally,
funds will be sou8ht in order to conduct an orderly
wind down of the charities, affalrs and meet any
ststutory contractual Ilabllltles.

Our work provldes all communitie5 Wlth many
opportunities to experience and/or learn the
performing arts of India. Drawing on the expertise
of traditional and western trained èrti5ts and
scholars, it provides different route maps into this
ancient heritage. Teachers and students can
develop through a Western teachin8 and
examination route, or the Guru Shishya (teacher
disciple) traditional way. Audiences are provided
with unique high-quality experience5 that both
open them to understand and appreciate the
heritage a5 well as ways in which that heritage is
informin8 the creative work by young upcoming
artlsts. We adapt our work to a variety of contexts
from the concert hall. Internatlonal fe5tlvals and
community venues.

Examinations, Music Award5 and specific training
for 5tudent5 and teachers of World Music will be

unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and
seeking explanatlons from you a5 trustees
concerning any such matters. The procedures
undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audlt and consequently
no opinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a 'true and fair vlew, and the report is
limited to those matters set out in the statement
below.

Accounting Pollcies
A. Accounting Conventlon
The flnancialstatements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
In preparing the financial statements the charity follows best practices as laid down by the Charities
Commission.
8. Fund Accounting
Funds held bv the Charity are elther:
Unrestricted Funds- These funds can be used in accordance with PRSSV charitable objectives
at the discretion of the 8oard of trustees.
Restrlcted Funds- Represents the amount committed by trustees for speclflc projects.
C. Tangible Flxed Assets
Fixed assets are recognlsed at purchase cost and never have been re-valued. Purchased Item Is
recogni5ed as fixed a55et only if their purchase cost exceeds £5IXI and its useful experted life Is
estimated to last for more than one year othenvise. they are fully expensed in the year of purchase.
Fixed Assets are generally depreciated at the rate of 33% per annum or with respect to its estimated
economi¢ life on the purchase cost.
D. Legal Status of the Trust
The trust is an association govemed by trust deed.
E. Taxation
No liability to UK Corporation tax arose on the ordinary activities for the year.
