The primary aim of the charity is to provide financial support for the accommodation, sustenance, education, training, and overall development of Tamil orphans in Sri Lanka. In addition, the charity provides essential equipment to schools and offers emergency relief support, including funding for families with children affected by natural disasters such as flooding.

The charity undertook a range of activities in Sri Lanka in furtherance of its objectives for the public benefit. 

These activities provided clear public benefit by supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, including orphaned children and families affected by natural disasters, by improving access to basic necessities, education, and essential relief.

Section D                      Achievements and performance 

During the year, the charity undertook a range of activities in furtherance **Summary of the main** of its objectives for the public benefit. This included the provision of **achievements of the charity** educational equipment, books, and food supplies to schools and **during the year** orphanages in Sri Lanka, supporting the welfare and development of disadvantaged children. In response to severe flooding in November 2024, the charity provided emergency relief in the form of food packages to over 200 affected families with children, helping to meet their immediate needs during a period of hardship. In addition, donated clothing was sent from the UK to Sri Lanka for distribution to those impacted by the floods.

The charity’s policy is to maintain minimal reserves, as funds are **Brief statement of the** generally applied directly towards its charitable activities. During the **charity’s policy on reserves** year, a comparatively large donation resulted in a large surplus, which the trustees intend to utilise in furtherance of the charity’s objectives, while retaining a reserve for unforeseen expenditure and short-term commitments.

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts and consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed, which has been carried out and attached together with Income Expenditure Accounts.

Registered Charity No: 327809
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Tamil Orphans
Trust for the year ended 31st March 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under
section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all
the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b)
of the Act.
Independent examinerfs statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to
my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in
any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by
section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the
examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a
proper understsnding of the accounts to be reached.
