## **ANNUAL REPORT 2022-2023** ## **JOHN RUNGE CHARITABLE TRUST** Registration number: 326889 ## **Current Trustees** Michael Robert Runge, 27 Whistlers Avenue, London SW113TS Anthony Peter Runge, 60 Wonford road, Exeter EX2 4LQ This was a period during which the previous two Trustees (John Anthony Hawthorne West and John Mathew Reid Sharman) expressed a wish to resign. Due to a long illness culminating in a stroke and hospitalisation of one of the retiring Trustees (Anthony West) this was a difficult transition. However the two current Trustees were appointed by DEED OF APPOINTMENT AND RETIREMENT OF TRUSTEES on 21 April 2023, the Deed being drawn up by WEDLAKE BELL SOLICITORS and signed by all parties. ## **Management of the Trust** The address of the Trust is now that of Michael Robert Runge (see above) who is the point of contact for correspondence with the Commission. The Trust banks with NAT WEST (332 High Holborn London WC1V 7PS). The retiring Trustees have been removed from the account, the address of the account changed to 27 Whistlers Avenue London SW11 3TS, and Michael Runge is now the new signatory to it. ## **Funds of the Trust** The funds of the Trust are held by CLOSE BROTHERS Asset Management. The value of the portfolio as at 05.04.2023 is outlined in the Accounts. The income generated by this portfolio is the sole source of income of the Trust. The income is now paid quarterly into the Trust’s account. The first quarter of this period shows an unusually large quarterly payment as during the illness of the retiring Trustee the income was left to accrue in the portfolio. ## **Beneficiaries of the Trust** The two principal beneficiaries of the Trust are OPERA BRAVA and SEVENOAKS SCHOOL where the Trust funds a bursary for one talented musician, currently a violinist. This is paid by standing order. The aim of the Trust is to support the performing of live Classical Music and to support and encourage young emerging Musicians pursuing a professional career. In future periods the aim of the Trust is to support other organisations putting on programmes of concerts where promising young musicians have a chance to perform, and admission is free or donations are invited. ## **Recruitment of Trustees** The John Runge Charitable Trust is a small family-managed Trust and the intention is for the next generation of the family to be represented as Trustees in due course.
