The trustees present they annual rewrt financial statements for the year ended S Aprd 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in acC￿danCe lwlh the accounting poficies sei out in note 1 to Ihe
financial statements and compty with the charity's trust deed, the Chantses Acl 2011 and "Accounbng and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice ap￿ICable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Repth'ng Stsnd*d appli¢at4e in Ihe UK and Repubh"c of Ireland {FRS 102}
leffedive 1 January 2019)".
Objectlves and actlvftles
The charity's objectives are to assist in the relief of poverty and ￿cknesS and provide for education and
advancement of knowledge for all ages together with the provision of m[￿leS for the advancement of medical
research by making grants to appropriate insts"tuts"ons. Benefirjanes are mainty based in the United Kingdom.
There has been no change in these during the year.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidar¢e issued by the Chanty Ctynmls￿on in deading what activities Ihe
charity should undertake.
The chanty makes regular d￿8￿"0n$ io causes vthich rt has helped over a number of years and invrtes applicants
from bodies wilh similar minded obj'ectives. The trustees. have had regard lo The Chanty Commission's guidance
on public benefit.
Achlevements and perfomiance
The charity has continued to meet its aims and objectives dwing the per￿ under Teview vthich were to provide
help by way of grants to organisations set up for obieth-ves similar to the charity. In the future the charily will
ontinue ils policy of making grants frLyn the income generated from its investment portfolio. The trustees lake
regular professional advice in respect of the management of it5 investment prfolio.
FlnanciJl revlew
The trust is reliant on the income frcxn its investments vthich have totalled £67.165 for the wiod Lmder review
(2023 £64,427).
Overall Ihe trustees decided lo distribute a similar level to last year viith £60,500 being spent on charitable
athvits'es (2023 £70,800). Details ot the recipients of the grants are listed in note 5 to the accounts.
The trustees aim to maintain free reseNes in unrestricted funds at a level that equates to the Pfesent balance
and to make chariiable grants SLwF4us residual income.
The returns generaled from Ihe chanvs investrnent portfolio have increased when compwed to Ihe previous
year.
There is a surplus of income over expenditure of £40,(*8 for the year (2023 defiat £55,898) which includes a
realise4J loss of £86712023 loss £13.592) on the sale of investments and an unrealised gain of £41,95512023
loss £28.490} on the change in the fair (market) value of the inveslmenls.
The charily Irustees have considered the major risks lo ￿lch Ihe charity is exposed and have reviewed those
risks and established Systems and procedures to manage those risks.
The charity intends to carry on financing the charttable institUt￿S that it finances at present, in particular medical
organisats'ons in the North East and local charitses Jewish inth'biduals and elderly peTson5.

Structure, governance and management
The charity is known as the "Ruth and Lionel Jacobson Charitable Trust (Second Fund) No 2" and is re￿stered
with The Charity Commission Nmber 326665.
The trust is an unincorporated trust constituted by a trust deed dated 20 Juty 1984. The trust does not actively
fvnd raise and seeks to continue its charrtable work desired by the donor through the careful stewardstsp of
existing resources. The chanty is not dependent upon vcdunteer workers.

Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales require5 the trustees to prepare financial ststements for
each financial year which give a Inje and fair view of the stale of affairs of the chanty and of the incoming
resources and applicats.on of resources of Ihe chanty for that year.
In preparing these fmancial statements. trustees are required to..

deed daled 20 July 1984.
1.1 Accountlng conventlon
The financtal statements have been wepared in accordance with the charity's twst deed, the Charities Act
2011 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to
arrties prepafing their accounts in accordance with the Finanoal Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK
and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 Jarw 2019)". The charity is a pU￿1C Berbefit Entity as defined
by FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in SORP for chaniies applying FRS 102 Update Bulletin
1 not to prepare a Statemeirt of Cash Flows.
The financlal st8temeF)Is have departed from Charits"es [Acc￿ntS and Rewrtsl Regulation5 2008 only to
the exient required to provide a tnje and faif view. This departure has involved IDllowing ihe Ststement of
Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102 rather than the vergon of the Slatement of
Recommended Practice which is referred lo m the Regulats"ons but W￿"¢h has since been withdrawn.
The financial statements ale prepared in UK sterling ￿lch is the functional CLKrency of the charily. Monetary
emounts in these finawal slatements are foufKled to Ihe newest £1.
The financial statements have been wepared w*der the historical cost convention, modified lo indude the
revalualion of certain financial instruments al fair value. The prinopal accounting policies adopted are set out
below.
1.2 Golng concern
At the lime of approving the financial Statements. the trustees have a reasr￿able expectation that the charity
has adequale resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees
contsnue to adopt the g(ing basis of accoUntW￿ in prepwiTr3 the financial statements.
1.3 Charitable fund5
Unrèstricted funds are available for use at the disuelion of Ihe Irustee¥ in fLthrance of their tharitable
objeci¢ve8.
Restricted fund5 are suLy'ect to speafic condilions by donors or grantors as to how they m8y be used. The
purposes and uses of the reslncted funds are sel OLrt in Ihe r)otes lo Ihe finanual statemenls.
1.4 Income
Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any perflyrnan￿ conditions have been met,
the amounis Can be measuied reliably. and rt is wobable that income will be received.
Investment income Is eamed through holding assets for investment purposes. It includes interest on cash
deposlts.

Liabilities are recognised as expenditu￿ as soon as there is 8 legal or ¢onstru¢tive obligation committing the
charity to that expenditure, it is Fxobable that a transfer of economic beneffts wll be required in settlement and
the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expendrture is accounted for on accruals basis and
has ben classrfied under headings that aggregate all Cosl related to the category Where costs cannot be
directly attributed lo particular headings they have been allocated lo aclivities on a basis ￿nsIstent wilh the
use of resources.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged as an expense against the ￿t1Vty f(￿ which eXp￿KI1tUre arose.
Grants offered Sllbject to condrtions vthich have not been met at the year end date are rK)ted as a commilment
but not accrued as expenditure.
1.6 Flxed asset Investments
Investments in equities are Show￿ at fa'r (mthet) value.
The inveslmenls a￿ valued by an investment manager, having due regard to latest dealings. professional
valuation, asset values and other appropnale financial infomation.
1.7 Cash and cash equlvalents
Cash at bank includes cash arKI short temi dewgts a matunty dale of three months or less.
1.8 Taxation
The charity is an exempt tharity wthin the meaning of schedule 3 of the Charities Aci 2011 and 1$ considered
to pass the tests set out in Para9raph 1 SthedLAe 6 Financ* Ad 2010.

generating unit, is estimated and ccmnpared to the carying arnt￿nt. Wthere Ihe Carying 8mounl exceeds its
recoverable amount, an impaifment Ioss is fecognised in profit or loss unless the asset is carned at a revalued
