Para 1.20
Thls year we Supported 46 charities,
of whlch nearly all were small local
charltie8. Our totsl donations
amountod to £84,382 which is a flgur8
almost exactly matshing our
Invostment income. Wo have
di8tributod largar amounts in pagt
years but It18 our policy to aim to
retsln our capitsl in line wlth Inflation.
In pa8t yoar8 Inv88tmgnt growth wa8
beatlng Inflation and this enabled u8
to donats more.
The charity incurn no expen8es
because the Trustees charge no
•xpan808 and donata all costs rnlatlng
to the operation of the charity.
It ha8 alway8 been an Important alm
for us to pump prlme new charltable
Inltlatlve8 and we are proud to have
been early funders of a number of
charltlO8 which have bocome woll
08tablished. Presently there appears
to be a reluctsncg for naw charltles to
be formed and we recelved no
applications mo•ting our pump
primlng crlterla durlng the year.
In the past wo have followed a policy of
Investlng the majorlty of our funds
through a Single Investment management
house but durlng the year we deGlded to
change th18 pollGy and to plaGe;a
substantial amount wlth two la
charltable Investment trusts. T

changeover took place over the, year end
and resulted In our holding a large cash
balance at that tim¢. Since then our cash
posltion has reverted to our nonnal policy
of holdlng In cash only the amount
requlred to meet immediate donatlon
requirements
