I have always loved dan￿ myself and from rny recent expenence on boards such as Sport Wales and Cardiff
Metropolitan Univer%ty, I can see the Impact on people of eAalAing all people lo be active and find joy in creative
expres*on. We seek to share that joy by linkn'ng vrilh olhÈTS w0￿1n9 in educabon. health and wellbeing and Ihe arts.

Ass(￿lates. our youth compary. My rersonal h￿hI￿ht was seeing young people of P8nrhys dance ano bèatbox as
a result of their cdlaborzt￿jTr wilh Dean Yhndl, Sandra Hami5h-Lacey and Kyle ste￿1. This ambitiOU5 long-term
co-crealion project briros arts and non-arts partnets tLy3ether wlh the c(Nnmunib"es of Penrhys and the surrounding
Rhondda Cynon Taf area, and has run since 2018.
The company demonstrates the powerful benefits of dance in ils Dance for Parkinson's wort enabling people lo enjoy
movement arKI keep achve in four thations across Wale5. Our heallh-rdated wixk wa5 recognised with an Arts &
Business Cymru award for our collaborat￿n ￿th Cartrefi Cymru Co-operatsve which explore4J how movement can
benefit care st8ff supporting peO￿e wlh leamin9 disabl1￿e5. It created new ways for stall to support their physical and
mental wellbeing and ins￿re a ll¥Jd81 thal could, in luture. benefil siaff working in a lange of care Settings. This was
d8liv•red wth support from an Arts CO￿¢1 ofWal•s Heallh and Welb•mg loitery grant.
NDCW8les 15 Part of a vibrant dance cullure in Wales, and we %*iN continue to seek ways lo collaborate wtth others,
learning from local al￿ intematl￿al arlisfs lo infom the devel01N￿ent ol aspring taknl across Wales. An aspect of Ihis
is Discover Oance for 7 to 11 year olds where young people expkjre their interest in danciro bn'nging their
inquisitive and enquirin9 minds io ask Insight￿￿ and probiry questsons of ¢)ur dancers.
2022r23 rapresented a recovery from Ihe damaging consequences of Co¥id and il was with joy that the organisation
was able to open and minds lo acbjal people and events.
Tho Uncertainty of Govid has moved inlo the ￿Cer￿ty of inflabonary pressure from war in Ukraine., wa have
nvesligated the risks arbd put in plar* effectwe mitlgation as a ￿nSeqUenc*. The board reviewed their nsk appetite and
approach with external support to ensure wr valLFes and behaV￿)urS match the risk landscape ntsw. This exe¥eise
created a new n5k apprauaiion and rnethodology to support 9rowth.
The chief executsve an¢Y lea¢Je(ship team have investe(I time Tn Ihe creatson of a rnew business plan which inforrned our
Investment Review submission lo Arts Council ol Wales in March 2023. A task and finish group ol trusiees reviewed
and inputted into the strategy. buil¢Ying on our strengths and c￿ating new ways to inspire people through dance. This
compelling bid will fulfil our ambitions and th￿r5. and we have aLso devekyed new révenue streams fram grant and

The Company's home at the Dance House at Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff is a place Whe￿ Independent Welsh

Company offers a worl¢-class fa¢￿Tty for Ihe c￿allOn ol new dance which 1s central to Ihe Companls lealership role and
as a resource for the dance sector in Wales. The Company works arbsts Irom Wales olferin9 access lo learning arnd

Through multiple training prtsgrammes the Company invests in the a$pirats"￿$ of young people, developng and

included two new works. an¢J a rework of a ple￿ fi￿1 made lor us in 2019. The lour was supported by the work ol our

Following inlemational perforrnances of existr.ng work fn the winlec we brought PULSE to stage in Ihe spring of 2023.
PULSE featured the relum ol Marcos Morau to the CcThp8ny with a refreshed version ol his wDrk Waltz. Thi5 was paired
with a new cofflmi55Km lor arhsts Sarah Gokling and Yukiko Ma5ui {SAY}, collaboratirKJ wlh bealboxers MC Zani and
Dean Yhnell. Tounng to seven venues in Wales and three in England. t￿"S was the first evening piogratnme wholly
Curated by Artistic Director Matthew Robinson. 11 saw the highest audiences al Ponbo In Bangor since the Comp8Thy
started wsrting there, and the best audience at Har￿n. Newtown fN a decade. The PULSE programme wll continue to

artists and thei¥ work in dialogue with communiknes. audTenEes and part￿panIs. In Ihe year 2022123 we expanded the
Engagement Team, recruiting a specialist Engagemenl Arrist anLI a Team C04)rdinator. After the yèar ended, we
recruited a new producèr. bringing the ieam to full 5tren9th. Our work falls into three areas.
WE INVOLVE. By inviting ￿llabOratiOn aNI Onc￿141n9 pat￿lpaI10n. we woth Feople wthwe Ihey are. We aim to
broaden access and enhance wellbeirg for all ages by pr¢)moling physical aclivity and ¢re81ive engagement. Across
VVal8s we engage a nefvnrk of freelance arbsts who are embedded in place. This Tre￿0rk develops ongoing comrnunity

in Cardiff. Follo￿ng this, in Autumn 2023. the Company will rtrtour its programme Pulse. featuring Marcos Morau's
Waltz and Sarah Goldings and Yukiko Masui's Say Something. The tour will ojlminate in Padova where the Company

ReportirKJ Siandard applicable in the UK and RepublK ol I￿land IFRS 1021.. Financial Reporting Standard 102

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Preparation of the accounts on a 901119 concem basls
At the 31 March 2023. the C¢)npany has nel ctsrrent liabilities of £19,185. As an 8xisb.ng Arts Portfolio Wales
gani5aknon. the Cofflpany has applied lor funds frL¥n the AJts Ctyjnol of Wales IACWI a5 part of its Investhmenl
Review for funding for the peri(Ll 2024-27. and as a result the fvture level of its revenue grant from April 2024
won't be known vnlil October 2023.
In addition to p￿p3￿ng budgets for the 3 years lo 31 March 2027 as part of the Investrnent Review procèss the
Company has tested a nurnber of scenarios covering a 12-m¢Jnlh p*iod from Ihe date of the s￿ning of these
accounts, having tèken ongoing tconomic pressures a$s￿l8ted with the extemal finanual cnsis into
consideration.
Financial and cash ftow Pfoiections foi each scenaiio dernonstsates (hat the Company wll be able to meet its
liabilitEs as they arise for a period lo J￿Y 2024, being 12 months from the dale of this report. However. the
magnitude and potential irnpact of any signiftant ￿￿ctiOn in the level of ACW support is a re£ognised as a
significant risk. The Board are therelore working on a range of opts.ons to fflitsgale the consequence of the risk.
Whilst the Company has gocKI rea$￿ io consider ihat frjnding at an appropriate levd wll continue as it is already
a portfolio ofganisalion of ACW, Iheie is rK) fom)al in¢Juiion provtded as at the dale of this report This
circumslance creates a material uncertanty which may cast doubt almwt the Company's abilily io continue as

Taking all the above into con5Kleralion Ihe aca)unts have been prepared on a going ￿CErn basis anrj the
Cofflpany will contsnue to raise funds from trusts and individuals to enable the d•lNery a rang8 of perfomiance
