Home Farm School Association

Treasurer’s report

The school year 2024/5 represents another highly successful year of fundraising for the school.

Almost 75% of the total funds raised in that school year came from the Fireworks Night and the Summer Fete, but that does not tell the whole story.

The remaining 25% of the £21,604 raised comes from events which are immensely popular, such as the Surprises Room late November, the Quiz Night in March and regular ‘Sticky buns’ Fridays. These amount to good community events.

Tribute should be paid to Emma Lamond who has been Vice-Chair for two years. Nobody doubts her skill and enthusiasm when planning the Surprises Room. Her wisdom and contribution to the general running of the association have been second to none.

Our Chairs, Laura and Chris Royce have followed in a great tradition of fundraising and brought new skills to the administration of HFSA. Payments by card were in their infancy when they took over and now we have three Sumup machines each with their dedicated ‘burner’ phones. They have done much to ensure that communications all go through the central email address – contact@hfsa.co.uk. Organisations such the Licensing authority at Colchester City Council are to communicate with HFSA directly. This avoids the problem of individuals moving on, leaving no forwarding address or means of contact.

So, a fine year of fundraising and administrative consolidation. Robin Greatorex.
