**Objects:** TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE POETRY OF VIRGIL AND AS ANCILLARY THERETO TO PROMOTE VIRGILIAN STUDIES BY MEANS OF LATIN READING COMPETITIONS, PUBLIC LECTURES AND DISCUSSIONS AND THE MAKING AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC OF SUCH LECTURES, IN PRINTED FORM, TOGETHER WITH ARTICLES AND BOOK REVIEWS.

**Activities:** The Virgil Society usually holds five public meetings each year in central London which are attended without charge by members and non-members.  Meetings include presentations of paper, discussion sessions and readings  from the works of  Virgil.  A  Newsletter is published for members twice a year.  Members range from those who are Virgilian scholars to those who have a basic knowledge of Latin.
