Th¢ Charity is r¢gi5ter¢d with the Chatity Colltmission in EDgland ynd Wales &s Cbarity No. 313648 and at Companies
House as Company No. 00596938.

2. CHARrrABLE ACllVITIES AND PUBLIC BENEFIT
The Charity leases the Bishops. Palace from the Chwch ComTlliw"OllCJ5 and is also twnsible for thc management of
the Keep Iweviously the respon5ibih.ty of Englth Hetitsge).
]n August 2013, the trustees entrred an ullderlease with Farnhatn Castle Oper*ions Ltd ("FCOy underwbich the revenue
from weddin8s and business events providcs the fimdujg for thaInie4W]￿ aDd repair.
Enty to the Keep and nearby ExbibilioD Room is free for all visitors. On Wethjesday afternoons, guided tours of the
Bishop's Palace are generally avadable. atjd are conthicted by a ￿all team of voluntrer guJde5.

3. OPERATIONAL AND FI.NAJ4CIAL RENIEW
As stated above. the Tnain source of income for the Charity. the £25.(xX) p.a. rcni teceived from FCO, has been s¢Gured
through to the end of September 2025.
Additional income has largely been generated by conductrd iours of the Bishop's Palate which tske place on most
Wednesday afternoons duriug the year. This providd the Clwity with a Small, but not illconsequential revenue
stream. The Cbarity's poli¢y regardin8 tour fees rematns tours ar¢ free lo those UYKier the age of 18. students and
¥roups helping undtr-privileged adults or those with disabilities. All othets pay a lirniled £5 entTance fee per adulL

tn August 2024 the Chtirity became members of the Hi5tori¢ House5 Association (HHAI. Whilst HHA Members ¢aD be
in¢ludcd In Bishop's Palace iours without cbarge, the chan.ty can reclaim 500/0 of the ttonnal tour cost fee ID Matth each
year. Records atsd membership numbEr5 of HHA visitors are maintsined, and the second tt3n¢he of additional fees will
be Teclaimed fvom HFL4 ia arch 2026. In the nvelye months to the eDd of Septrmber 2025, 57 HHA metnbers rook tours
out of totat tour numbers of 429. Total tour5 were up from 250 condu¢ted in the previou5 twelve months and well above
the 300-tsrg¢t set foi the actsvity in the fIve-y￿ plan. The 70°h increase in Palace tout5 is the result of heightened
promotional activity ill social Tnedia and via additio￿ to the Charity's wcbsitc. indicatiDg the boa￿'S COTnmiunent to
illcreasing public access 2nd knowledge.
Entrance to the castle's Keep is free, but in the twelve m¢)nts to September 2025 li h&8 been closed to the public because
of safety issues related to failell masonry. English Heritsge have re5r￿)nsI7)Ility for repaiTS and maintenance of the Keep.
To date, no explanation has beell provided &$ to why no acllon has been taken ts) Complete the necessary repairs, (kspite
ciitici$m 8nd pttssurc ftDm the Cbarity and other local SoUT￿S. Public access to the Keep is important to the town of
Farnham, attracting rn2lly hundreds of visitors each year. It is also the onlyp8rt of th¢ca5tJe visited by local school groups
as part of their national cU￿1culUKD siuth"es. As a result of the ¢losure. tb￿ year ￿OUnd 200 school pupi15 weie precluded
from leatlliDg about Farnham C&8t]e's hrstory. and of Nornun tasties in gcnerat. by way of a visit and th]k by gllides
inside the Ke¢p.
In S¢ptCTnbcr 2025 the Bishop's Palace and 8rouDds were open to the public as part of the town's Heritage Opet) Day
f£stivaL attracting just over 7￿j local visi10￿, despite the Keep's closure.
