**Objects:** TO ADVANCE AFRICAN STUDIES PARTICULARLY IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, BY PROVIDING FACILITIES FOR THE INTERCHANGE OF INFORMATION AND IDEAS AND THE CO-ORDINATION OF ACTIVITIES BY AND BETWEEN PERSONS AND INSTITUTIONS CONCERNED WITH THE STUDY OF AFRICA.

**Activities:** The Association was active in holding its conference in Birmingham in 2018 - attracting 800 delegates - its largest to date. The organisation was also closely involved with the British Academy, supporting Writing Workshops in a range of locations including Accra, Lagos, Luanda, Nairobi, and Lalibela.
