Charitable Status
The Friends of Dr. Challoner’s Grammar School is an unincorporated association, which is registered with the Charity Commission. Charity Number 310621.
Objects
The object of the Association is to advance the education of the pupils at Dr. Challoner’s Grammar School by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school not normally provided by the LEA.

TRUSTEES’ REPORT – for the year ended 31 August 2023
The Trustees present their Annual Report, together with the accounts of the Friends of Dr. Challoner's Grammar School for the year ended 31 August 2023.
Background and Scope
The Friends is an unincorporated association, which is registered with the Charity Commission, Charity Number 310621. The Friends provide financial assistance with the cost of the educational facilities provided by Dr. Challoner's Grammar School, Amersham.
Financial Review of the Year
The financial activities are summarised on page 5 of the accounts. During the year the income of the Friends was £33,944 all of which was generated by fundraising activities and donations.
Future Plans
The Friends will continue to raise funds for the school and assist with the cost of capital projects.
Organisation
All decisions affecting the management of the Friends are taken by the Committee, who meet on a regular basis.
Appointment of Trustees
All members of the Committee are Trustees of the charity and have control of the Friends, its property and funds. Committee members/Trustees shall be elected at the AGM and shall hold office until the next AGM. All committee members/Trustees, except those who are co-opted, must be members of the Friends. Committee members/Trustees shall have the power to co-opt committee members/Trustees at any time, and co-opted committee members/Trustees shall serve until the date of the next AGM. The number of co-opted committee members/Trustees must not be more than 50% of the total number of committee members/Trustees.

Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts for each financial year which show the charity's incoming resources and application of resources during the year and of its state of affairs at the end of the year. In preparing those accounts, the Trustees are required to:

select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

state whether recommended practice has been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the accounts;

and prepare the accounts on the going concern basis, unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 1993 as amended by the Charities Act 2008. They are also responsible for safeguarding the charity's assets and hence, for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
