The fund is for the benefit of the founder's kin and boys and young men between the ages of 9 and 25 who are resident in the North or East Ridings of Yorkshire or in the County of Somerset to assist with their education by grant of Prowdes Exhibitions to candidates approved by the Trustees in their absolute discretion.
Objects: Award Of Educational Benefits To Boys Or Young Men Who Have Not Attained The Age Of 25 Years With Preference To Persons Shown To Be Descendants Of Persons Named In The Will Of The Founder And Secondly To Those Whose Parents Are Resident In The Counties Of Somerset And The East Riding Or The North Riding Of York, And Thirdly To Those Whose Names Were Entered In The Candidates' Book Before The Date Of The Scheme.
