INDEPE1￿ENr EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF KINGS CLIFFE SCHOOL FOUNDATION I report on the Rec¢ipts and Payments accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30 September 2023 which are set out on pages l and 2. Rupective responsibilities of tru&tee8 And examiner The Charity's trustees are responsible for the preparntlon of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under s¢¢tion 145 of the 2011 Act. to follow the procedures laid down in the 8enerai Directions giv¢n by the Charity Commission under section 145(5Xb) of the 2011 Act. and to state whether particular m&tters have com¢ to my attention. B&818 of independellt examiner's report My examination was carried out in accordan¢¢ with the general Directions given by the Charity Comrnission. An exomination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts pres¢nted with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and s¢¢king explanations from you &$ trnste¢s concerning any such matters. The pr(Kedur¢s und¢rtaken do not provid¢ all the evidence that would be r¢quir¢d in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to wheth¢r the accounts present a'true and fair view, and the report is limited to those matters set out in th¢ ststernent below. Kings Cliffe Almshouse Charity and Endowed School Foundation Chair Report for AGM 26th March 2024 V*lelcome to all and heartfett thanks to all for their commitment to running these charities. Almshouses The tenants of the Almshouses have remained the same this year and we have repla￿d the roof of 35. The wall collapse was repaired however NFU refused to payout. The clerk has raised this with the ombudsman. School House This is still rented to the same tenants and managed by Richardsons. Land Rents These are managed by Richardsons. The new Lease for the fand under the railway bridge is being negotiated. Finances These are referred to in detail in the Treasurers report. Rental Increase We have not increased the rents for the Almshouses for the past two years and it may be necessary consider whether we increase them this year. The rent for Library House was not increased last year in-line with the recommendations from Richardsons. Education Foundation During the year grant applications for £2800 V￿re re￿iVed and paid out. Due to the ongoing issues with Barclays and a fear that they would not honour cheques the monies have very generously been paid by the Clerk. The vacancy for a Foundation Govemor was not filled duiing the year but fortunately we now have a very suitable volunteer in Anne Wesley. During the heavy rains in October the roof of the Endowed school leaked. There is currently protracted discussions between the school. suppliers of the flat roof, architect and the contractor. Each is trying to blame the other. This is likely to be an ongoing issue but fortunately the school is supported by the govemors as well as the foundation. Thanks I would like to give my thanks to my fellow trustees for their advice and assistance this year. In particular to Peter walla￿ and Steven Brighty for their support, Nick Evans for dealing with Barclays and trying to find atternative solutions and Gina for dealing with the Grant applications. However, nothing would be possible without the dedication of our Clerk Reggie. I would like to thank her for her advice, assistan￿ and willingness to deal with every situation.
