Chair's Report to the Trustees 06.11.2025 This will be the last report I write as Chair, having served on the board of Trustees since 2004, and as Chairfor the last 8 years. l am very pleased that I'm leaving the Charity in robust shape; we have seen the tenants of the last 10 years move on, and thanks in large part to Carla Stanley and David Foale, have been able to welcome another tenant, Strong Pilates, who have signed a ten year lease and are investing in the structure and re building of the Holford Centre, our principle asset. We are also a long way down the road of being able to sell the Old School House to the existing tenants, and there is a backup plan if that sale falls through. ALI of which will leave the Charity in much better financial shape, than when l joined. Our charitable aims are supported bythe lump sum we will have. along with the considerable funds in the Charity's bank account, enabling the Trustees to use interest from the capital to grant bursaries to local young peopLe, rather than having to pay for repairs and upgrading on the property. l am very grateful indeed to my fellow Trustees; you are dedicated and very hard-working colleagues and have made myjob this year much easier. Having David's building expertise. Rowan's legal background and Donna's financial acumen has been so supportive. Russell's knowledge of corporate and business dealings and his informed input, particularly regarding negotiatingthe lease has been invaluable. Greta's knowLedge when discussing bursary requests has been very useful and Judy's patient guidance through the ins and outs of on the online admin has made my life so much easier, and the Charity's digital presence is now nearly in the 21" century! We willvery much miss Claire's knowledge of the young people making applications for bursaries. The young people themselves have been extremely grateful for funding; we have made grants this year in excess of £30,000, which is pretty remarkable I think, for a small educational charity, and we should all be very proud ofthe manyvarious ways we have been able to really impact on these young people's lives. We have made grants for sports clubs, dance and music lessons, residential courses, laptops and other electronic devices, post-graduate degree courses, pilot quaLifications. science equipment. musical instruments, text books and software. I have really enjoyed workingfor Dame Elizabeth Holford's Charity, but I do feeLthat it's time for me to step down. Future newTrustees will no doubt have lots of ideas about how to move forward, and they will start with a strong board and a healthy cash position from which to do so; which is a direct result ofthe hard work of Board members to whom l am indebted.
