17. Hgrltage assets
In addition lo the capilalised fixed assets held lor the Charity's, own use, the College also has
several assets which acl as a permanenl record ol the College's history. These Gomprise of a
unique coll8Ction ol paintings, clepieling the College's Heads over the years, together with rnany
other artifacls whose inlrinsiG value is also bound up wlth the College's history. Most of these are
irreplaceable originals lo which no reliable value can be attributed 2nd accordingly thes8 have
not been capilalised in the accounts. The Governors lake the view that di￿105UT8 of these assets
would prejudlce the efflclenl working ol the Charity, and have therefore decided that such delalls
should not be provided here.

Under certain circumstances, the contract with parenls provides lor the paymenl ol an additional
term's lees in advan￿ Ibeyond the current term) lo ensure the lees payable in lieu of notice can
be collected. These sums are normally applied in salislaclion ol Ihe final term's lees when
leaving the Colleg&.
Included in creditors is a loan from the Dover College Trust lolalling £1.919,473, £100,000 01
which is due lor repayment annually. This was secured by means ol a charge over Ihg freehold
property ol the College.
