**Governing document:** Scheme originally framed by the Minister of Education under the Endowed Schools Acts, 1869 to 1874, and formerly regulated by a Scheme made under the Endowed Schools Acts of 28[th] June 1880, and now regulated by The Charity Commission. 

Amended by Trustees on 1st December 2009, following approval by the Charity Commission in their letter of 25[th] September 2009.  Further amendments approved by Trustees on 28[th] June 2011.

The Governing Body of the Foundation (in this Scheme called the Governors) shall, when complete, consist of fourteen persons who are in sympathy with the aims of the Church of England and other Christian churches. 

Every Governor to be appointed by the Central Bedfordshire Council shall be appointed for a term of office ending on the date of the appointment of his/her successor which may be made at any time after the ordinary day of retirement of the Central Bedfordshire Councilor’s next after his/her appointment. 

The other Representative Governors shall be appointed each for a term of three years and the Co-optative Governors each for a term of five years. 

## **Four ex officio Governors being:** 

The Archdeacon of Bedford, and The Rector and Churchwardens of the Parish of Dunstable Respectively for the time being. Incumbent of the benefice of the Ecclesiastical Parish of Dunstable 

## **Four Representative Governors to be appointed:** 

FOUR Representative Governors, to be appointed Two by the Dunstable Town Council One by Houghton Regis Town Council One by Central Bedfordshire Council 

**Six Co-optative Trustees** – Appointed by resolution of the Governors. A Representative Governor need not be a member of the appointing body. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

## **School Premises** 

The dwelling house or any other premises formerly used for the purposes of the School of the Foundation may, as the Governors think fit, either be treated as part of the general property of the Foundation and managed accordingly, or be appropriated to educational purposes as in this clause provided. 

## **Provision of grants for school uniforms/Beneficiaries** 

After payment of any expenses of administration, the net income of the Foundation         shall be applied by Governors in the manner and to the objects hereinafter prescribed for the benefit of young people who fulfil the following conditions (hereinafter called beneficiaries) 

Provision of grants for school uniforms who are, in the opinion of the Governors, in need of financial assistance; and who are resident in the town of Dunstable and Houghton Regis, and the villages of Totternhoe and Caddington. 

## **Achievements and Performance in the past year** 

£3,775 given in grants for school uniforms. Numerous repairs to external downpipes, roof repairs and general maintenance. 

The Parochial Council of the Priory Church of St Peter have been renting the entire house since 1964 but gave 6 months’ notice in December 2020 to terminate the lease which will end on the 28[th] June 2021.

## **Finances** 

The house and Little Theatre are the main assets. Money is invested and creates an income to help with maintenance and repairs together with rent received from both the Church and Little Theatre.
