aarke's Educatton Foundatlon provides educatlonal grants to sthools, youth
organlsatlons and resldents of the parlshes of Wokefield and StraKidd Mortlmer In
West Berk5hlre and Mortlmer West End In Hampshlre.
Grants are made avallable to: local 5th001s to cover ttems not available from the
Local Educatlon Authority; unlversity students durlng thelr first two years; mature
students and for vocatlonal tralning and apwentlceshlps.
The charity owns part of the land on whlch Mortlmer St Mary's School Is bullt, the
School House and Its garden.
It derlves Its Income from rentlng the School House to tenants, modest Investment
Interest and, In 2020, grants from Strntfield Mortlmer Falrground Charoty and
Strètfleld Mortlmer Rellef in Need Charity.
In 2020, Clarkes supported 18 (25 In 2019) untr¥erslty students wlth bursaries
amountlng to £6750 (£10250 in 2019) thanks In a large part to the efforts of
Tnjstee Mollle Lock.
The charlty made a further £3682 (£3884 in 2019) worth of grants to a varlety of
educatlon related projects Indudlng: sthool refurblshments; school trfps; books for
sthool leavers and local Gulde & Scout groups.
The charlty has ftjnds Invested in two Charltles Offidal Investment Funds (COIF). As
at De￿mber 2020 the COIF Deposit Fund balance stood at £19667 (£19626 In
20191 wlth the COIF Investment Fund at £44012 (£41,387 In 2019), satlsfartory
Increase5 over the 2019 figures.
The summer saw a thange of tenant's in the schoolhouse whith triggered mandatory
checks of the electrfclty supply and central heatlng system boller. The trustees also
took the opportunlty to carry out mlnor renovations. In the course of these a number
of dilapidations were noted and the trustees have commissloned a survey into the
general condition of thls 150+ year old building with a view to identifying any
malntenance needs.
