How the charity is constituted
A Charitable Trust which is unincorporated. There are nine trustees, two of
whom are Ex-officio.
Trustee selection methods
The ordinary trustees: of whom there can be a maximum of seven, are
appointed by existing trustees taking in to account their local knowledge
and occupations, so as to have a good mix of experience. The two Ex-
officio trustees are linked to their office - The Vicar of Christchurch and
the Ma

The making of financial grants for educational purposes to qualifying
persons and organisations, as defined by the governing charitable
scheme.

The issue of grants for educational purposes to beneficiaries and
organisations qualifying under the charitable scheme. In that respect,
grants have for example been made for computers, laptops, books, travel
expenses, school unrform, organised school trips and expenses related
to college, university or apprenticeships.

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
Clingan's Trust has been established since 1736. It is at present
governed by the charitable scheme sealed on the 15th March 1996.
In its financial year ended December 2023, grants in excess of £95,000
were made to individuals, schools and organisations. This was an
increase on the previous year of £29.000.
The trustees endeavour to support young people locally in helping them
to realise their educational ambitions and potential, and to assist them in
their career choices. In that respect, grants have been made for a variety
of educational purposes including the provision of books, computers,
educational material. organised school trips, university and college
expenses and help with apprenticeships.
The Trust has a long-standing reputation within the trust area for helping
young people in education and especially those from poorer
backgrounds. It has a reputation for enhancing the lives and prospects of
young people.

The Charity has large capital reserves. The trustees seek to use all
available income whenever possible.
Brief ststement of the
charity's policy on reserves
The trustees have regard to maintaining proper reserves of income for
future needs. In particular, so as to ensure the reserves are sufficient to
meet the running costs of the Charity.
At the end of 2023 the Charity's reserves were as follows:_
1) Lloyds Bank - £88,449 (income)
2) Portfolio managed by Charles Stanley - £948,068 (capital)

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity ("the Trust") for the year ended 3111212023.
Responsibilities and
basis of report
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
("the Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145{5>{b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have
examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me
cause to believe that in, any material respect..
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130
of the Charities Act., or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records., or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements
oncerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
