The Dbjective of the charty, as set out in the memorandum. continue5 to be to prc)vide care to and
advance the education and training of people with a disabilty. in accordance with the principles of Dr
Rudolf Ste5ner.
We aim to meet the needs of young people wtth a learning disabillty over the age of 16 in their tran51tion
through the college to adulthood and to provide a co-hou5ing community where adults wyth a learning
disabillty can live and develop within a supportive, caring and stimulating enveronment.
We provide an environment where each person can develop his or her potential and build their
5elf-confidence thereby preparing them for the opportunities and experiente of later lrfe.

Community
The Mount is a member of the Assoclation of Camphill Communities whlch wa5 founded in 1940. The
community is made up of dedicated and enthusiastic (Trworkers many of whom INe on site, non-resident
employed co-workers and a group of young short-terni volunteers who come from countries throughout
the world to live and work at The Mount This skilled and energetic group of people enable5 the Mount to
offer a diversei P051tive, and caring environment in whith to live and develop.

The MoLJnt offers a three-year college programme based on three curriculum areas.. skills for
Independence, Craft and MovemenL Wlth British Values embedded throughouL
The Ski115 for Independence curriculum helps students develop lrfe, work, functional and personal 5ki115 to
prepare for life beyond college. Students may work towards qualifications including BTEC Home Cooking
Skills, BTEC Land-Based Studies, BTECWork Skills, and Functional Ski115 in English and Maths.
The Craft curriculum provldes prartical, sensory learning through artIV￿Q$ such as cooking, gardening,
baking, weaving, art and pottery. In their first year. students experience a range of foundation crafts before
choosing a workshop specialism for Years 2 and 3.
The Movement curriculum supports physical and mental wellbeing through actTWties such as Bothmer
gymnastlC5, Eurythmy, games, Tai Chi, tennis and swimming.
Students also take part in drama production5. educational 0￿IngS and residential trips.
All students follow individualised study programmes based on their Education, Health and Care Plan5
IEHCPSI, with flexible pathways and personalised wOrk-experien￿ opportunities to 5UPPOrt their future
goal5.

The charity offers individual support in English and Maths, as specified in each student's EHCP IEducatlDn,
Health and Care Plan). Each year we are very proud and delighted by our rtudents, achievements. This year

Cohouslng Artivities and Achlevemer
Cohousing is an innovatlve and inclusive adu￿ supported Ilving model that Is offered within The Mount
Camphlll Community. There are 3 house5 Within the community, 2 on the main site and I situated nearbv
in the village of Wadhur5L The houses comprise of 16 5UPPOrted cohousers and 15 live-in coworkers.
This year we have continued to enjoy celebrating festivals, lrfe-sharing conferences Wlth other
communities, monthly cohousing management group meetings, cultural activities and performances, many
birthday celebrations and perforning in Wadhur5t with the drumming workshop.
Our monthly "New5 and Notes" keeps all families and communtty member5 updated on the activities and
events happening within the cohou5ifbg Comfnunty and on developments in social enterprise.
Sodal Enterprise
The social enterprise area of our offer continues to develop and aims to offer meaningful work attlvities for
tohousers. We are committed to engagement and nurturing self-esteem. Each social enterprise artivrty has
a therapeutic benefit and wks to support each person to find their ideal a￿a of work.
Candle makingj bakin& pottery, weaving, art and eco crafts, estate work, donkey care and harvesting the
produce fmm the garden continue to take place. The produce from these activilies has been taken to
several very Successful craft markets over the course of the year and more outlets in the local communitv
have been selling our stock. We have supported the local group "Wadhurst Warriors to promote local
charity work through our food production sales.

Our networking has also led to the birth of 2 partnerships between The Mount Camphill Community and
Common Ground Theatre and Compass Arts in E3Stbourne. Both will see a collaboration in theatre
produttitsn, work experien￿ and WDrk5hop offers. As well as lolnt Art exhlbitions. Common Ground
Theatre offered their flr5t production of Twelfth Night, in the communty to high acclaim and wlll follow up
with a production of 'HamleV 500n. We are all very exctted about these 2 partnerships which will enhance
the cohousers skills and interests in the arts and raise the profile of all involved.
The cohousing community continue5 to explore further opportunities to tske Social EnterPr￿e into the
wider community outside The Mount and develop further activfrties.
Therapie5
The Mount offers a range of specialised therapies which nurtu￿ the whole person. These include speech
and Language Therapy, O¢¢upational Therapy. Eurythmy Therapy, Musi¢ Therapy, Art Thèrapy, BDthmer
GymnastiC5, Embodiment and Rhythmical Massage.
Training
The community engages in a broad range of training for its co-workers and volunteers, exceeding
mandatory guideline5 and promoting cowrtinuou5 leaming and development a5 appropriate to everyone.
Volunteers receive fomial training using our in-house training course in line with Ski115 For Care which leads
to the Care Certificate and further training in social care in relation to the principles of working in a
Camphill Communty.
Investments infrastructure
A new Speech and Language Studio and Occupational Therapist space wa5 completed this year which has
provided a much-needed quality space for these therapies.
The major upgrade of the IT infrastrurture has been Completed to provide a fast fibre intemet connection
and a secure and stable system. Gene￿1 investment in rr ha5 continued with the purchase of 12 new
laptops during the financial year and ark additional interactive Screen for classroom use.
A new minibu5 was purchased, following the succe55ftJl fundraising tsmpaign, and it arrived in De￿mber
2024. A replacement car was purCha￿d for the college, and a new electric car has been leased for
cohousing.
At the main site the existing car park was substantially extended and remodelled. This has eased the
parking problem on site, improved site safety and ensured clear acces5 for emergency vehicles if ever the
need ar05e.
A barista coffee machine wa5 purchased in June so that students on learn how to Use this machine in
support of their work experience and Skills.
Other significant purchases include a new boiler. two commeraal washing machines and furnitu￿ for offite
refurbishment.

Fundraising
We continued to fundraise for the outdoor Trim Trail fundraising appeal. Another appeal was launched to
raise money towards the Pond House swimming pool recommissioning costs and the pool house
refurbishment, having reached the total this closed in JU￿.
We now have 41 Friends of The Mount. our Tegular donors. Money donated by them supported both these
appeals, as well a5 buying a range oven for St john'5 House, a mixer for the bakery and camping equipment
for college use. A Smaller appeal for the College 3 biography retreat raised funds for the students, annual
trip away.
A variety of events were organised throughout the year tD fdlSe money toward5 the current appeals,
ncluding a Quiz night in Wadhurst village. a sponSo￿d wall college and cohousing Family Days, our annual
Summer Festival and Café Mount each term. A fijndraising celebratory event was held at Pond House for
tho major donors who supported the completion of the boardwalk and landscaping projett.
The Charity Is registered with the Fundralsing Regulator and is committed to the Fundraising Promise and
adheren￿ to the Code of Fundraising Prartice. Use of a CRM, Donorfy, 15 an irrtegral part of fundraising's
work to record and manage all donor5 and contscts securely.
No complaints have been received about the fijndraising activity. The Charty 15 consciou5 of the need to
protect vulnerable people with respect to the fundraising activtty and the vulnerable persons Policy is
publighed on the website.
Future plans
The college will eontinue to invest in the frdcilities, re50urce5 and staff t() deliver the best possible provi51011
for S￿dents that improves accessibility and provides maximum benefit.
Within cohousing it is hoped that social enterprise will continue to develop arkd offer meaningful work
activitie5 for cohousers that will nurture Se￿-esteeM and have a therapeutic benefiL
An extended decking area was construtted off the garden classroom in August 2Q25 to provide a peaceful
and praLtical a￿a for outside work.
The back drive was resurfaced in November 2025.
Ongoing refurbishment has continued with new carpeting in Whtte House, flooring in St John'5 and Soltane
and bathrooms in Mount House all ￿Mpleted.
It is hoped that a trim trèil will soon be put in pla￿ and that the swimming PODI at Pond House will be
finisheLI following the successful fundraising appeals.

Financlal posttlon
The charity achieved a p051tive movement in net unrestricied funds. £526,798 12024.. £776.7801. the
decrease reflects the significant investmènt in premises repairs and maintenance in excess of the increase
in college and cohousing income. The total unrestritted fund balance at year end wa5 £5,666,721 12024..
£5,139,923).
This Stable financial position has allowed planned investment to move ahead, a5 Outllned above in our
future plans. The trustee5 plan to continue to invest in the infrastruciure and the quality of our offering for
students and residents as funds allow.
Investment policy and objertlves
Under the memorandum and article5 of a550clation. the charty has the power to invest monie5 not
immediately required for its purpose in or upon such investments, 5ecuritles and prc)perty as the trustees
judge to be fit. In thi5 financial year, funds have been p5acèd on shortterm deposit only.
Reseryes poliry
Operatlng reser¥e
The reserves policy states that the charity should have a ￿sewe of betwèen 3 and 4 months of operational
expenditure. For the year ended 31 July 2025, this equated to betsveen £850,432 and £1,133,909. Reserves
are calculated a5 the charity's unrestritted funds of £5,666,721 minus th052 funds unavailable for
expenditure such as r￿ed assets £3,368.946, wing a reserve level at the ¥ear-end of £2.297.775 12024..
£1,789,824).
The tru5teÈs recognise that the level of free ￿erVeS flurtuates during periods of investment in the &tate.
The charity has a continuing programme of refurbishment and investment at The Mount to maintain the
fadlities for our students and residents. The trustees will continue to ensure that the level of reserves Is
sufficient to protert the charity in the event of reduced income or changes in CIr￿m$tanCes.
Bulldlng MaIntenan￿ and sustainability fund
The trustee5 are concernecl to ensure that the charty has sufficient funds of £IOO,OW12024.. £100,DOOI set
aside for any future work required to maintsin the buildings and grounds of the community. They have
therefore agreed to Set aside funds for any future works.
Restrlrted reserves
Some funcls a￿ provided to the charty to use for specific purposes and where this is the Case, they are
held in a restricted reserve 2nd drawn on as the funds are required for the purposes for which they are
given.
STRucfuRE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of tru5¥ and constitutes a limited company,
limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Att 21J]6.
The Mount Camphlll Community Limtted Is a company limtted by guarantee. incorporated on 9 March 1971
and registered a5 a charity on 13 March 1972. The company wa5 established under a Memorandum of
Association which establishes the objectives and powers of the charitable company and 15 governed under
its Articles of Association. The company is registered as a charitable company with the Charitie5
Commission. In the event of the company being wound Upi members are required to contribute an
amount not exceeding £5.

Recruitment and appolntmènt of new trustses
The members of the Council of Management (the Council), who are the direciors of the company and
trustees of the charty, are drawn from people working in anthrop050phical O￿anISatIOnS with Similar alms
to The Mount, members of the wider community ar)d parentslguardians of existing and fomer students,
Trustee5 a￿ elerted lor ratified If temporari￿ co-optedl by the members of the AssociatlDn of The Mount
Camphill Community Limited.
Organlsatlonal structure
The organisation was managed through the strurture of leadership, management and cohousing Broups
wSth oversight in all other areas. The core area5 were managed by Cathy Hall (Education). Adrian Pye (Care
and Support), Vicky Syme IcohDusingl and Pamela Lowton IFinancel. The groups worked collectively with
the trustees to lead the strategic direction of the tharrty.
The trustees met four times during the year and The Association o* The Mount Camphill Community
membership meeting5 were held twi￿ in which members and trustees explored i55ues of strateglt
development and maintained the ethos of The Mount. In addition to their overarching shared
responsibility, indivldual trustees took on key areas of responsibility and maintained continulng
communication with the relevant groups between trustee meetings.

An indurtion pack is shared with each new tnjstee on appointment and training is offe￿d a5 appropriate to
them,
Remuneration policy
The Sa13ry Rewew Group undertakes an annual rÈview of all employee Salaries and makes
recommendations to the twstees for approwal of amendments to pay levels having regard to RPI over the
previous year and the Current financial status of The Mount.
All employee5 are paid more than the National Living Wage and the National Minimum Wage.
employees are eligible for the grDUP pension scheme with up to 5% of salary matched by employer
contrlbLrtions.
Rlsk manaBement
The trustees have a duty to idÈntify and review the risk5 to which the charity 15 exposed and to engure
approprlate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error.
The trustees have implernented and kept under review, an assessment of major risks to whlch the charity is
exposed. In particular they monitor those risks related to the operatTons and finance5 of the charity and at
the time of this report, they are Satisfied that there are systems in pla￿ to mitigate exposure to the major
risks assessed. The main working groups and facU￿leS wtthin the community undertake a review Df the
risks facing their daily operations and update the register of major risks. together with the steps in place to
mitigate the risks and consideration of improvements to control5.

charitable company in accordance with the ethical requirements that are relwant to our audit of the
financi315tatements in the UK, including the FRC'S Ethical Standard, and we have fulfi51ed our other ethical
responslbilities in accordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we have
obtained is sufficient and appropriate to prowde a basis for our opinion.
Conclusions relatlng to going concern
In auditing the financial stdtements, we have concluded that the trustee5' use of the golrbg concern basis of
accounting in the preparation of the financial statements is appropriate.
Based on the work we have performed, we have not identtfied any material uncertainties relating to events
or conditions that, individually or collectively, may cast significant doubt on the charitable companvs ability
to continue as a going concem for a period of at least twelve months frown when the financial ststements
are authorised for i55ue.

Basls of preparingthe financlal ststements
The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102,
have been prepared In accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 'Accounting and ReportlnE by
Charities.. Statement of Retommended Prartice applicable to charltles preparing their accounts in
accordance wlth the Financial Reporting Standard applicable In tiie UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS
1021 (effective l January 20191,, Financial Reportirbg Standard 102 The Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Companies Art 2006. The financlal statements
have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
Income
All income is recogni5ed in the Ststement of Financial Atttvities once the tharity has entitlement to
the funds, it is probable that the income will be receNed and the amount can be measured reliablv.
College and cohousing income compTi5e5 amounts receivable in re5pett of students and residents
and is recogni5ed on an accruals basis.
Government 8rdnts
Grants receivable are recogni5ed when the charitable company has an entitlement to the funds and
any conditions which are linked to the grants have been met. Where perfDmiance conditlons are
attached to the grant and are yet to be meL the income 15 recognised as a liabilty and included on
the balan￿ sheet as deferred income to be released.
Donated goods
Goods donated for use by the community in carrying out its attivtties are recognised a5 tangible
fixed assets, with the correspondirbg gain recognised as income from donation5 wlthin the Statement
of Financial Activities. Donated goods held as tangible fixed 8s5et5 a￿ subject to depreciation and
amortisation over their useful economic life and reviewed for indications of Impairment at the
balance sheet date.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recogrbised as expenditu￿ as soon as there is a legal or construttive obligation
committing the charity to that expenditure, it 15 probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be
required in settlernent and the amount of the Dbligation can be MeaSu￿d reliably. Expenditure is
accounted for Dn an arcruals basi5 and has been dassifted urbder headin￿ that aggregate all cc>st
related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have
been allocated to activitie5 on a ba515 con5i5tentwith the use of resources.

The ESFA 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome the speciflc
financial barriers to participation they fa￿, so they can remain in education. Bursarie5 are based on
financial hardship and factor5 limiting a(￿55 to education.
The ESFA Devolved Formula Capital 15 direct funding for individual institution5 to maintain thelr
buildlngs and fund small scale capital projects.
The ESFA School ConditlDn Allocation should be PriOTit15ed in keeping school buildings safe and in
good working order by tackling poor buildinE Cond￿On, building compliance, energy efficiency, and
health and safèty issues.
The Pond House/Cohousing Development Fund contsins a residual sum to be used withln tohousing.
The Pond House Boardwalk ￿nd is for the improvement of the Boardwalk at Pond House.
The Carbon Footprint Reduction project is donations received last year specffitally for carbon
footprint rÈdurtion at the Mount premises.
Other restricted funds represent monies raised for the pu￿hase of one off items. In 2025 thls
includes furtherfundraising foran outdoor Trim Trail to promote physical frtne55 and wellbeing.
The Minibus Appeal fund is holding a residual amount to be used on the minibus or deliver training
as required.
The Pond House Swimming Pool fund is being used to reinstate the swimming pool.

for general rather than restritted purposes have been transferred from restricted to unrestricted
