Overview- 2025 Annual Re ort
The 12th Chichester Scout Group continues to be one of tbe most active and succes5fi)I Scout Gmups in the Chichester
are& This past year. we've seen our young people thrive thanks to the onooing support of our dedicated leadersbip
teanL kndworkiag volunteers, Commit￿ Tn￿t¢CS. and the broa&r lo(xl COD]munity.
Under strong and fonvard-looking leadership, the Group has delivered another year of thougbtful and engaging
programmes designed to help young people build confidence, resilience. and essential life skills. Our volunteers
continuc to play a central role in creakng safe. inclusive, and iL8PiIiDg experiences foT all our members.
As Cbicbester continues to grow-particularly with the rise in new housing developDwIts-we ￿cOgnise both the
opportUDiti¢s and the challenges this presents. Alongside thi5, we remain focused on improving our headquarteTS to
better serve our Dtrmbers now and into the filtu￿. Thes¢ efforts requu¢ ongoing planning. resources, and
determination, all of which we are conlluitted to.
Throughout the year, we've stayed true to the cote values of Scouting." growtty inclusivity, and community inJpacL

Lead Volunteer R ort
The Scout Group has grown in the last year, mainly due to the inclusjon of tbe new Squiyrel Section. At the lime of the
census, we bad 81 members being supported by 32 adults- not all of whom are kaders.
Helen and Jenny have continued their tern￿Y fundrdising events, with a Whodunnit and a Bingo eveDing in 2024 and
the second Quiz Night tbis year, each time earDing approx. £400 for the ￿uP on each oc¢asion.
At the beginning of the year, we were saddened to bear of the passing of Margaret Bart closely followed by beT
husban& Malcolm Bartett who bas played a big part in the management of the wup over the years. His enthusiasm
and dougbnuts at the Jumble Sale will be missed.
Following several '*ebind the scenes" meetings with the HQ Development Team and surveys. a very detailed
Feasibility Report was produced with lots of colourful diagrams and plans to show how we could develop the site. At
the begiDniDg of this year, we held a HQ Development Workshop wkere Katie was able to tall( us througb the thoughts
bebsnd the report and to get feedback The outyut from the workshop has been tsken by Katie and will be pteselltrd
back to us as amendments to the feasibility Pla￿ at which point we should have a clearer direction on what we want to
do next It is hoped that we will have the output and more detailed plans ready for the Annual Genetal Meeting in July.
2025 is the Groups 70th Azmiversary in September so the group are opening a Badge Competition to all its members to
create a badoe that can be worn on the uniform for a defined period as ao orxasional badge. There was discussion about
holding the AGM on a different day to make it more of a r¢l¢bration, however, plans and thoughts on what tbis ¢ould
include bave yet to be discussed any further. GDPR does make this difficult in not being able to hold records of past
members.
Stedharn Campsite has be¢n booked for a Family Ca]np in September and boolaJJgs are being taken. With a 3-year gap
sill¢e th¢ last Family CaEnp, we hope to welcome a lot of new members and tbeir parents to tbe camp.
uirrel Section
It was very exciling to open a new section in November 2024 after 6 months, work wilh the District and County T¢an
to set this up. Thanks to a District Volunteer Event in March 24, we d]ready had 4 new leaders lined up to take OD the
role, including 2 parcnts of ￿lStIllg m¢mb¢ts. Thi5 bas Ieally helped us rather than having to further spread the CULTent
leadersbip t&qnL
The Squiffel Section is for 4 - &year-olds and we started the first tern) with 10 membe￿. ￿￿tIng on a Saturday
orning b¢tw¢en 10:00 and I 1.00. This number w&$ incr￿ed to 12 for this year.

The Beaver group is rujming with 15 beavers. and at the end of this year we have finally started tr) welcome the first

to acclimatise and get used to the leaders. OveralL the SquiTrels seemed to have settled in quite well, signing up for as
many ahead adventures as they can. The Beaver Leader team has included Zoe TuJJne]l and Kirsty Shewan as joint
Team Leaders and George Rossiter, as Team Member, but we are desperate for at least another adult to join us. We
have continued to have the consistency of the same dedicated young leaders, supporfing the Beaver colony. There has
also been sigDifi¢ant prnt interest aud support for Beaver eveDings that are based out and abou¢ and in the
community.
The Beavers have all enjoyed a vatied and diverse prograD)me, which has seen them partake in many excursions and
walks out into the comtnunity as well as many creative and challenging meetings witbin the scout huL The Beavers
have continued to strive forwards with earning their badges and showing kindness and welcorneness to every Beaver

The Beavers are continuously challenging then￿elVeS within meetings to acbieve elements of their challenge badges,
som¢times having structured tsrgets to a¢bieve, such as being a team leader, teachillg other skills oi inforAnation that
