## Trustees’ Annual Report for the period 01-Apr-2024 to 31-Mar-2025 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The Group exists to provide enjoyable activities for young people and to encourage responsible and respectful behaviour as part of the wider community in line with the principles of the Scout Association 

The Group, which is open to all young persons, holds regular meetings and events as well as organising camps and other activities. 

The Group is wholly reliant upon volunteers to operate. 

The Group’s trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

The Group has operated successfully to provide useful, instructive and interesting activities for its young members. In doing so, wider society benefits by having children who have a sense of belonging and respect. 

## **Financial Review** 

For the period 01-Apr-2024 to 31-Mar-2025 the group made a net income of £3,031.  The key driver was £3,751 interest earned on the funds in the buildings fund. 

The group is looking to eventually purchase or build a new scout hut and has a building reserve of £105,235 set aside for this purpose. 

The group has further reserves of £4,338. 

The group aims to break even on all Camps, Events and running of the group. 

The charity’s principal sources of funds are: 

- termly Subs (used to cover day to day meeting expenses, insurance, badges, equipment) 

- Camp/Event fees to cover specific camp or event expenses. 



## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The charity was established under a Royal Charter in 1912. 

Individual troops (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts) are operated by Volunteer Leaders and Parent Volunteers.  The overall group is governed by the Trustees. 

1[st] Old Woking Scout Group along with other local scout groups make up a District (Woking District Scouts).  A number of Districts then make up a County (Surrey County Scouts).   All of these Scout units (Groups, Districts, Counties/Areas/Regions) are governed by the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association, which provides the framework in which all Scout units operate.
