Notes to Accompany Financial Statement for 1st Fetcham Scout Group year ended 31st March 2024 Scouts 1st Fetcham Overview 'Business as usual, is the headline for this year. Unsurprisingly our day to day running costs have continued to rise, but membership and participation in group events remains strong. Bank interest rates have started to turn in our favour and the structure of the groups finances have shifted so we now hold as much money as possible in interest bearing accounts. As such we are no longer separating out funds for the rebuild of the HQ rather putting all excess funds into 'Gold' savings accounts and shifting money back into current accounts when it is needed. Headline Numbers As at 31st March 2023 total Group Assets were £298966.07. This is made up of the minibus valued at £5.5k, £7.7K in current accounts and cash across the group and £285.7K in our Saving accounts. The group current account shows a surplus of £8834, compared with a surplus of £9197 for the previous year. This is due to a variety of factors, the most significant of which are - During 2023-24 fund raising continued, we received £4k for volunteering hours from Alison Waites employer, £5k donation from a grandparent and various small donations made by individuals and groups making use of the hut. Other fund raising events include the Fetcham Festival which raised £6K, and participation running stalls a various local events. Festival takings were down on the previous year mainly due to extremely high temperatures on the day keeping turnout lower than usual. We also raised £805 by hiring out our tents and equipment. Overall subs income is up slightly on last year, £14k vs £13.4k in 2022-23. Transport costs remain high with more maintenance needed for the minibus. Plus we have shown further depreciation of £500 on the minibus. Utilities cost are now catching up with the increases seen across the market as our fixed deals came to an end in September 23. Costs will no doubt increase again when we see a full year at the full rates next year. There was also significant remedial work done on the concrete piers in the hut so maintance costs for the year jumped from £2.6K to £5.4K. Section Accounts Thanks again to the Treasurers for the sections who have kept their accounts in good order during the year. One item of note- Cannons Shooting Club accounts have now folded into the new Scouts CAF Bank accounts.
