| 1st Ewell Court (St Clement’s) Scout Group’s charitable purpose isto promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. Our scout groupis an inspiring local group that helps over 60 young people between the ages of 6 and 18 to have fun together, take part in challenging activities and learn how to be valuable members of our local community within the overall umbrella of the scouting movement. Our young people have developed skills appropriate to their ages covering everything from first aid to camping. We have also supported the local community by helping at local fundraising events where these have taken place including a firework display and church fundraising events, raising money for other charities as well as our scout group All our leaders and helpers are volunteers who give their own time and enthusiasm to help the young people. They also gain valuable personal development such as team working skills, confidence and leadership skills. We have an all-inclusive approach, encouraging everyone to join us, and their smiles and laughter after an activity or scout camp together are infectious! Part of our ethos is to include other smaller scout groups in our community in camping expeditions. These groups are too small to have an extensive range of camping equipment, so rely on our equipment to be able to offer their scouts the chance to join in. We confirm the trustees have taken into account the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when making any decisions it is relevant to. |

Section D Achievements and performance
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year |
We have had a mixed year in scouting with lockdowns and zooming, and I want to thank my whole team and all the young people who have shown great resilience and fortitude and even better imagination to carry on scouting in very difficult circumstances. This same team have then gone on in strength to keep scouting going without being able to access HQ, but instead making use of our wonderful countryside that we are fortunate to be able to access easily, but we sometimes forget is on our doorstep. We as a group have had a mixed year on the leadership front. We gained two Beaver leaders if only for a short time - David and Rebecca. They, along with our brilliant Young Leaders have helped the Beaver section grow in number and seen the section have some wonderful adventures. Our Cub team has become a solid team of three alongside their young leaders and has given the Cubs some wonderful memories. Our Scout team has remained strong and they have managed, under some very challenging weather and conditions, to produce some inventive programs and seen the Scouts put the theory they learned into practice once we were able to return face to face. This summer we finally were able to return to what we do best and camp, with the initial day-only camps for Beavers and Cubs where they built dens, hiked and learned lots of traditional camp style activities. July and August saw first Explorers and then Scouts return to actual camps, all be it with daily testing as part of the process. I must thank our Leaders who worked tirelessly in the background to make sure these activities took place. This year we had even more paperwork to put in place to make sure everyone was safe, and then on top of this they also completed the standard camp planning and execution of a varied and exciting program for all camps. Our group numbers from each section go from strength to strength with more young people joining us. Even though we have an excellent set of Leaders, with increased numbers we can always use, and really need, additional Leaders/helpers to improve and expand the experience which we can provide to our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Are you up for the challenge of adventure with our young people?? I would like to finish my report with some numbers from the past year: Beavers have achieved 31 activity badges, 14 challenge badges and 3 Chief Scout Bronze which is a remarkable achievement considering this is our smallest section Cubs have achieved 4 Chief Scouts Silver with over 60 activity badges and a further 15 challenge badges being awarded Scouts have between them been award 30 badges we have several well on their way to achieving their Chief Scouts Gold and they have all learned plenty of #SkillsforLife Explorers have achieved: 1 Chief Scouts Diamond, 1 Chief Scouts Platinum. We have Invested 5 new Explorers whilst on camp and three of our Explorers have started their young leader journey. As you can see our young people have achieved so much even though they have been through a very difficult year in scouting and life. We look forward to them achieving more #skillsforlife and we can’t wait to see how |

Section D Achievements and performance
they grow in confidence and stature as they progress through the sections.
On behalf of the young people and the Leaders, I would like to thank all parents for their continuing support of the Group.
In addition to the achievements of the Scout Group, the Chairman also highlighted the following achievements:
BUILDING PROJECT: I am delighted to say that we have now virtually completed our new stores building project with just some electrics and snagging to finish off. This has been a major task but thanks to Karen’s constant daily project management it was built on time and budget.
FUNDRAISING: As I mentioned above, we have now completed our new stores building project. A very big thank you to Karen, and Sue our secretary who have put in an amazing amount of work in the past 18 months or so in raising circa £60,000 for the project and our group running expenses. Not only have we now got a super new building, their fundraising allowed us to reduce subscriptions for 3 terms and still meet all our financial commitments.
KAREN OUR GSL: I would like to personally thank Karen, our GSL, for the incredible amount of admin and compliance work that she has undertaken over the past year to ensure that we are up to date with all the training and regulations that Scout HQ expect us to comply with nowadays. It is a very frustrating and full-time job, very time consuming and tiring.
THE LEADERS: I would also like to thank all our section leaders, assistant leaders and section assistants for all the extra hard work and innovation they have put in to ensure that our young people have had weekly meetings during the pandemic. Without out our leadership teams we would have struggled to carry on.
THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: And finally, I would thank the Group Executive Committee for their work to keep the Group in very good order both financially and behind the scenes. All of their work (and the leaders’ work) is undertaken on a voluntary basis and many of our committee work full time and have very busy lives. Their contribution to Scouting is not as visible as our section leaders, but behind the scenes, is equally as important.
