## Oaksey Playing Field Trust

Charity Reference Number X 45695

Registered Charity Number 305556

Address 3 The Street, Oaksey, Malmesbury. Wiltshire SN16 9TG

Trustees: Col. NJ Mangnall , David Fry, Ben Thomas, Roger Squance, Mark Crocker. Trust Structure

A charity registered on 19 February 1963 with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Supporting the trustees there is a secretary/treasurer.

The trustees meet once a year to review the accounts and discuss any issues which may have arisen during the year. They also decide on the admission of new trustees and the retirement of existing trustees. Nomination of new trustees is the responsibility of the chairman. And they agree the plans for the following year.

Day to day management of the affairs of the trust are delegated to the secretary, who reports regularly to the chairman of the trust. Expenditure is delegated

to the secretary with an additional trustee having authority to make payments to suppliers.

Activities and objectives

The trust owns the playing field in Oaksey and two buildings i.e. the sports pavilion and the large storage garage situated on the western side of the field.

There is a long-term tenancy agreement with Oaksey Parish Council to manage the maintenance and upkeep of the playing field, its hedges and fences and the playground equipment.

The current year’s principal objective has been the development of the sports pavilion. This involves the construction of a redesigned loft space (previously a storage space) and the construction of a viewing balcony facing the sports ground. Work started on this in June 2024 and will last around 5 months, costing more than £100,000.

Funding of this began in 2023 and around half has been donated from within the village community and the rest from outside sources including Wiltshire Charities e.g. Community First and Garfield Weston Charitable Trust.

## Public Beneft

The original deeds drawn up in the middle of the last century clearly identify the purpose of the playing field land as being for the use of the village of Oaksey and the surrounding communities. For recreation and healthy sports pursuits. It has remained as our credo ever since.
