Trustees Report

for AGM Bradenstoke Village Hall & Recreation Centre 2021

2021 accounts

We started the year with a balance of £47,593.40 and ended the year with a balance of £64,149.37. Unusually we have Covid to thank for this!

Income

We had a very slow start to 2021 due to Covid lockdown so there were no lettings until May 21. Lettings are the main source of income for the Hall so we were extremely fortunate to receive a total of £19,532 in grant funding via Wiltshire Council to mitigate against the loss of income and additional cleaning requirements caused by Covid.

Clubs started to resume in May 21 and have built up over the course of the year. Several regular lettings have generated £1205 and we have received £192.50 from private lets. This is more than last year but less than 2019 – prior to Covid.

There has been some increased interest in lettings recently but BADS have decided not to hold their performance in the Hall due to cost reasons.

The Parish Council now meet every other month in the Hall and there have been a number of elections and together these have generated £415.50.

We have received £343.17 in donations and £819.98 generously donated by Lilleybrook from their scrap recycling.

The main fundraising event of the year was the Christmas Fayre and despite Covid limitations we managed to raise a magnificent £1044.95. Many thanks to all the helpers involved and especially to Shirley Smith for her unstinting efforts especially in terms of collecting items for the hamper raffle and selling raffle tickets in advance of the Fayre.

We received an electricity recredit of £1000 but we have not changed our monthly direct debit due to the rising cost of energy.

We have installed WiFi in the hall at the request of the Parish Council and the Committee has reviewed the lettings charge and this has increased from £7 to £8 per hour from 1 Jan 22.

Expenditure

We have had our usual running cost and Mich Hedges has done an excellent job for us in terms of general repairs and maintenance and we have had some minor roof repair work done.

We have spent significantly more on cleaning and cleaning materials this year largely due to Covid and Lisa Fairbairn does a thorough weekly clean of the Hall.

We are also grateful to Committee members, especially Shirley Smith, for stepping in to ‘Covid clean’ between clubs.

In terms of improvements we have repainted the kitchen, bought new garden chairs and parasols for the decking, a new vacuum cleaner and installed WiFi. All of which will make the Hall more attractive for lettings.

The septic tank which shared with the Old School House was replaced in the Autumn. The Hall’s share of the cost of this was £9912.37 but this was offset by a grant from Wiltshire Council for £8230 which significantly softened the blow.

The building and site are maintained in good condition and we are not aware of any major structural expenses in the near future.

Independent audit of accounts of Bradenstoke Village Hall Annual accounts 2021 Reporting period.. 1 January 2021- 31 December 2021 Financial records examined= bank statements, detailed spreadsheet of accounts, balance sheet Report I can confirm that the 2021 accounts for Bradenstoke Village Hall were complete and have been properly and appropriately administered. The charity is in a secure financial position with a substantial reserve of funds to cover future repair and maintenance issues. I note that this was an unusual year as the charity received substantial Government Covid grant funding, making the income significantly higher than a 'normal' year. I do not identify any areas for concern. Signed Name LdLL£4rtg ZCLL Date 20312012
