CHUTE VILLAGE HALL ANNUAL REPORT 2024
The Village Hall is a registered standalone charity currently managed by seven trustee/committee members who are responsible for the running and maintenance of the hall.
Many village halls have closed down through lack of funding but our monthly coffee mornings and lunches have proved to be very popular and enjoyable and enabled villagers to meet new people in an informal atmosphere and are very well attended. Income from these help towards and monthly fixed costs which are in the region of £300 a month.
Our total income last year was £10295 and expenditure £11505 which was due to the extensive maintenance work which has been carried out on the chimneys and roof this year and as the hall is grade II listed work has to be untaken very sensitively. The windows are now getting past their sell by date and as you can imagine are not cheap to replace.
Our other very high cost is the heating of the hall to which we are looking at alternatives.
The hall has proved to be popular for children’s and adult parties and wedding receptions with two receptions booked last year and another one booked for this August.
We now have two Yoga classes one on a Tuesday Morning and one on a Wednesday Evening and we are looking at other areas such as a Zumba class.
The Trustees wish to express their appreciation to both Chute and Chute Forest Parish Council and The Fete Committee for their donations, which are received with grateful thanks.
On behalf of the Committee, I would like to record my thanks to Nigel Griffiths and Rick Wall for their help in ground maintenance and to all who have contributed in any way to the success of the hall as a village amenity.
Finally, I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to my fellow committee members for their support over the past year.
