Trustees Annual Report 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021
We started the Autumn Term with a healthy number of children, and this increased throughout the year. The parents always kept a safe distance when dropping off or picking up their children and we were grateful for this as the children’s and staff’s safety was paramount.
The focus we have each half of the term is aimed at covering all the cross curricular outcomes, providing a well based learning curve as well as covering many festivals throughout the world; Harvest, Bonfire, Diwali, Saints Days and Chinese New Year to name a few. Covid restrictions meant that the children were unable to visit our senior friends in the village with their Harvest Gifts, which was such a shame as our friends are always pleased to see the little ones.
The children worked on the Artwork Project making items and Xmas cards of their own design.
The children worked hard on their Nativity Play and gave a splendid performance on the day. Unfortunately it could not be live because of the covid restrictions, so we filmed it instead. At the Christmas Party the children had lunch followed by games, and a man in a red suit came bearing a sack of presents for them. The older children would normally have gone to the Pantomime at Yvonne Arnaud but sadly this was cancelled too.
We encourage all our staff to do training as part of their development either on-line or otherwise.
On Shrove Tuesday the children tossed playdough pancakes?
The children took part in The World Book Day, and each received a voucher to spend on a book of their choice.
The children joined in the tree planting on the green. Sadly, we were not able to do the normal Mothering Sunday tea, so we filmed that as well. The children put on a great performance and sang their hearts out!
It has been a strange year with all the restrictions we had to abide by, but the children coped with it all, despite the staff having to wear masks, shields, aprons and gloves. Maybe they knew we were smiling by our eyes. We were able to purchase a fogging machine which disinfected the equipment and dried quickly. We were glad we were able to continue to remain open in such demanding conditions. We were given a grant from Chichester to help cover some of the costs of the PPE which was a help.

We were however able to practice our annual Sports Day and held it in the garden; everyone was a winner. We also managed to dance around the Maypole in front of the parents., but unfortunately were unable to hold our normal fete.
We were not able to visit the school this year, so Miss Hall and the two new Reception Teachers came to us in the garden and had a meeting with our Lead Practitioner in the outside classroom.
We were able to have the photographer in to take the usual photos of individuals and groups.
We believe that we have provided a safe and caring environment to ensure the children feel valued and encouraged to achieve their learning goals, as well as having fun in the process. Since the Ofsted inspections started, we have always followed their guidelines and we have always achieved, an outcome of GOOD which we hope will continue, if not get better.
We would like to thank all our staff for their support and hard work throughout the last year, especially to Vikki and Victoria for their help with their work on the covid problems. Also, to the committee who organize the fundraising events, most of them virtual which has been difficult for them this current year.
We wish all the staff team well for the future and look forward to hearing great things to come.
