Trustees’ Annual Report

For the year ended 31 March 2025

Cross in Hand Village Hall

Registered Charity Number: 305320

Objectives and Activities

The charity’s purpose is to provide and maintain the Village Hall for the benefit of the local community. The hall is available for social, educational, and recreational activities, and is managed to ensure accessibility, safety, and affordability for all residents.

During the year, the Trustees continued to oversee the day-to-day running of the hall, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining facilities, and supporting community groups in their use of the premises.

Achievements and Performance

Financial Review

Income was generated primarily from hall hire fees although during the year substantial grant funding was received to assist with the cost of works to the toilet block. Other expenditure was focused on maintenance, utilities, and insurance. The charity remains financially stable, with reserves sufficient to cover at least six months of operating costs. It was necessary for a loan to be obtained from ACRE to pay for unexpected work which was identified during work on the toilets block.

The Trustees continue to monitor finances carefully to ensure sustainability and value for money in all activities.

Structure, Governance and Management

The charity is managed by a committee of Trustees elected annually at the AGM. Trustees are responsible for strategic oversight, compliance with Charity Commission guidance, and ensuring the hall is run for public benefit.

Policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities are reviewed regularly. Risk management procedures are in place to address operational and financial risks.

Public Benefit Statement

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. The Village Hall provides facilities that promote social cohesion, wellbeing, and community engagement, accessible to all residents without distinction.
