Trustees Annual Report for 2024-25
Carolyn Borthwick presented the Annual Report.
Preschool returned in September 2024 to much lower numbers than the previous year, having had 20 children leave for school. Numbers grew slowly, but did not reach the previous year’s levels. Lots of enquiries came in during the Summer term for September 2025 starts.
Rosy joined us as a level 3 practitioner and quicky settled into the routine.
Jess continued with her Level 3 training, and all staff renewed their First Aid training in December 2024. Other small and relevant courses were undertaken by many staff.
The Ofsted inspection took place in June 2025, and Preschool retained its Good rating, thanks to the continued hard work and dedication of the staff.
The garden fence was replaced in October 2024, and then a further new fence was installed as a barrier between the soft top play area and the main gate. This created a better level of safety and allowed the children to play outside earlier while parents were still dropping off in the mornings.
The Manager would once again like to express her thanks to all the staff for their continued hard work and support, to Patrick for the early morning cleaning and to Alan for keeping the outside areas tidy and the general repairs up to date, and without whose cheerful support and ability to turn a hand to all the odd jobs, we would be lost.

Lorna stood down as a trustee at the November AGM and Naiomi joined. Sadly Anita had to step down as a trustee in June due to personal issues, but Preschool were hopeful of recruiting new trustees in September 2025. Lisa retired as our bank staff member in December 2024, knowing that we did not need her due to better staffing levels.
I would also thank Sandie for helping with the day trips and stay and play sessions to support staff, Sandie and Tracy for tidying and sorting the craft cupboards during the summer holidays again and Kathryn for her constant support to me during the year.
