Trustees Report for 2020-21

Carolyn Borthwick presented the Annual Report.

Preschool returned in September 2020 to lower numbers than usual, as parents were still cautious about Covid-19. Extra precautions regarding access for parents, enhanced cleaning and use of sanitiser remained in place for the whole year. In January 2021 all the schools shut again for Covid. Preschool remained open, although some parents chose not to send their child in during this time.

Numbers gradually increased, until the summer term, and only 8 children moved on to school which ensured there would be a good start to the Autumn 2021 term

Following on from the building of the Battle Health pathway next to the preschool boundary, the committee felt that the boundary fence, (over 20 years old) needed replacing. Funding was sought from Battle Town Council, Rother District Council and the Foyle foundation and a new fence around the boundary was completed in the summer holidays.

A caretaker gardener commenced work in the summer and continues to do 2 hours a week keeping the outside areas under control.

During the summer holidays, the Manager Hayley Honeysett got married, and sadly announced her impending resignation as she would be moving away during the Autumn Term. The Committee welcomed the application from Carolyn Borthwick for the mangers post, and from Kate Longley for the Deputy Managers post. Both were accepted into the roles to start from 1[st] November when Hayley left, and a level 3 practitioner post was to be advertised.
