FelbridgeVillage Hall Chairman’s Report 13[th] July 2023

Welcome to this year’s Annual General Meeting. Looking through all the minutes of the last year our main topic of conversation seems to have been lighting issues and a coffee van.

We do appear to have spent out on new bulbs, light fittings, etc and the new led lights in the main hall and outside security lights. It would be good if all these items now lasted awhile.

The coffee van, this did cause some concern, but I believe our decision not to allow the van was the correct one. We were worried this could encourage other traders to use our car park. With this in mind we have now displayed a sign informing that we do not allow any traders to use the car park.

The club room is now fully completed and most of the time the two rooms can be booked to separate hirers.

Lynda, a very big thank you, this year you have saved us a considerable amount of money. The change from Biffa, which I know took some sorting out and the letter regarding the road closure with money received by return. Always being on the ball, with our payments to Gas, Electricity and Water.

There have been a few vandalism issues. Thank you, John for sorting most of these out.

Thank you to you all for your support and attending the committee meetings, especially Val for minutes, hall inspection and looking down a hole. To Alison, for her help when needed. To Tony for his work on the building side, you always seem to ‘know a man that does’

A heartfelt thank you, to Sarka, who always cleans the halls so well, often putting chairs and tables away first. In addition to ordering all the cleaning equipment, and even using her plumbing skills to mend the toilets and unblock the drains.

Financially we are in a good position, with funds rising slowly so hopefully in the near future we can update the main hall. Again, thank you to you all.

Chairman Linda Hainge 13[th] July 2023
