that she woukl be standing
down from the
achievements ofthe charity Committee atthe AGM and her resignation
has now been received.
during the year
The Committee were pleased to welcome Dsn Baley asa Member
in
December 2022. Itis good tosee new and younger
residents
taking an
active interest
in Village life. Dan has been paricularly
helpful
in
enhancing
the Committees
presence on Social Media.
Whilst the UK emerged
from the pandemic
and bookings
did pick up they
have now been adversdy
alfected by the "costofliving atsis" and there
isa need to generate more income from Rallle Ticket sales, and Pavilion
bookings, especially Weddings
which remain the best source ofrevenue
The playing field remains actively used and the playground
for younger
children was refurbished
last year. Asmall group oflocal parents help the
Committee
by reporbng any snagging
issues with the Playground
which is
also subject toaformal annual
inspection.
The Bonfire was successfully
reinstated
post Covid restrictions
for 2021
and 2022.
Itis always well attended
and isa highlight
ofthe Village year.
The Bonfire and Fireworks, since November 2023, are now organised
and run by a separate limited
liability company who organise their own
insurance
cover.
The Council keeps the local community
updated
on its acbvities via an
insert in the monthly
Parish Magazine.
The Councils financial
standing
remains positive.
We ended the financial
year with E21.4k in our savings account and E16.9k in our current
account.
Plus E10kon deposit. Total f48.5k —which is similar to last year
The Council carries appropriate
insurances
to cover its risks and during
the course ofthe year our insurances
were placed with Hiscox asthe
Scheme with Zurich was terminated
by the brokers.
Zurich would not
quote on an individual
risk basis and searches
in the market proved
fruitless.
Eventually,
CAS, our brokers placed our risk within their new
scheme.
In November 2022 we had a serious vandalism
attack when solar panels
were damaged.
Our insurance
daim against Zurich was met without any
problems
and we recovered the full costs ofapprox. f10,500.
Our Chair continues to pursue grant opportunities
and in February 2023
we received F1000under the warm spaces initiative.
Unfortunately,
we'd to submit another insurance
daim in August 2023to
our new insurers,
Hiscox, in respect ofawater leak. The leak has been
repaired
although the cost is not yet known
by Hiscox appointed
contractors and Hiscox have also reimbursed
our loss ofwater daim at
E1250.
We have had a number of low level vandalism
attacks in addition and
have recently installed
CCTVssa precautionary
measure.
