a. Negotiations with the National Lottery are continuing for funding
towards the roof replacement. The VHMC are cautiously optimistic
that we will be successful.
b. The oil-fired boiler will need to be replaced with an electric one in the
future. The solar panels on the new roof will enable the Village Hall to
generate enough electricity for both its own needs & to make an
income by supplying the excess to the National Grid.

Ladles and Gentlemen. Good evening and welcome. Many thanks for coming to the Village Hall
AGM,
We come to the end of another year within the life of the Village Hall and l am pleased to note that
the use of the Hall is continulng apa￿ with additional bookings, together with those regular village
users.
This year was a very interesting year with four events being sponsored by the Village Hall
Management Committee to help raise funds for the replacemenr roof. These events were..
The &eatles Tribute band
Afternoon Te
Proms in the Park
Fun and Food Festival
The total profit for these events was approximately £7,5(K) and my thank5 go to my team of helpers,
Patricia Wilkie, Claire Buller and Emma Bishton. Currentty the￿ may be a repeat of the Beatles
Tribute Band, depending on the health of the Fead singer and thls will be confimed later.
During the year we have continued wkth updating the maintenance of the Village Hall with the
replacement of light fittings to the upstairs meeting room and a battery replacement for the
emergenq light5, and further works in progress.
The cinema made a profit during the year of £673. This include5 drink5 sale5. ice creams, pinas and
ticket sales. I note that the last two films have been well attended. showing a good profit. Our
thanks go to Karen and her team for the film selection and for organi51ng th2 cinema bar and pizzas,
together with our thanks to Lorraine Brook5 for producing the posters.
The VHMC is looking into replacing the curtains for the
main hall as these were fitted in the year 2000 and are
beginning to show signs of age.
I must thank the whole of the Village Hall Management Committee for their diligent and excellent
work throughout the year. The Management Committee now comprises 5 people, with all the
Committee tackling at least two ￿b$. It would benefit the Village if we had some new members of
the VHMC to assist with the workload and, in that respect. l arn looking for volunteers.
Peter will speak later about the years Atcounts. He has rteered us through another dlfficult year
and I hope. when you read his presentstion, you wlll understand a bit more about the Hall's
finances.
During the year we received severdl complaints about noise emittinB from the Village Hall during
some of the parties held. To act In good conscience and respect for our neighbours, a sound Ilmlter
has been installed within the Village Hall and hopefully there will be no further complalnts about
norse emitllng from the Village Hall.

Although l am no gardener myself, l am always very pleased to see the results of the Village Hall
Gardenlng parties and huge thank5 from the Committee to those who take part.
We also have the benefit of the Village Lunches whlch run twice a year, and which rely on several
ladies, and some gentlemen, lo a55iSt with the production and delivery of the food and the setting
out of tables and chairs. The lunches raised £6183 and some of these fur)ds have been used to
purchase two new under-counter fridges for the kitchen.
Our thanks go to them and their contribution to the well-being of the Village Hall finances is very
important.
Our thank5 go to Amy and her team for their contribLrtion to the cleaning and well-being of the Hall.
The time spent keeping the Village Hall ship-shape is very Important to the Committee and its many
users of the Village Hall to enjoy clean and tidy premises.
We continue to liaise with funders and are cautiously
optimistic that we should be able to achieve a
significant grant from the National Lottery towards our
goal.

NAYLAND VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT CoMMI￿EE
TREASURER'S REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31.12.2023
The results for the year ending 31.12.2023 show total receipts of £46,267 and
expenditure of £32,846 (including £1895 depreciationl, giving a surplus of
£13,421. Balance sheet items are as follows:
Endowment Deposit
£15,630
'Own' Deposit
£20,326
Bank
£28,463
Debtors
£45
Cash
£388
Assets
£23,200
The very satisfactory surplus for 2023 was greatly enhanced by the fund raising
activities and donations in aid of the roof replacement, which together
contributed £10,686. The cinema and Village Lunches also made healthy
contributions, for which we are very grateful. Bookings for the Hall were also
good, although 2 regular hirer5 have ceased.
With regard to expenditure, costs were in line with expectations. The hall does
need regular maintenance, and this is reflected in the amount of £4280 spent
during the year,
Finally, it should be noted that the hall building and land {which are very
significant village assets) do not show in these accounts, as they are owned by the
Parish Council but leased and managed on their behalf by the VVHMC.
Peter Mann. Treasurer NVHMC
