Annual Report for year ending 31 August 2025
Notes to the accounts
-
Refunds (deposits and damage waivers) are accumulated in “Other services” but for this reporting, refunds have been separated out. Thus, hiring fee income takes account of returned refunds.
-
The village hall has signed up for Boiler Juice Connected, a service whereby we pay a fixed amount each month into a “tank account” which is decremented when an oil delivery is made. As at the end of the financial year, this account was in credit by £1,205.19. Oil costs stated in the accounts therefore need to be adjusted by this amount to reflect the true cost of oil purchased. We had no oil deliveries during the summer months, hence the credit balance building up. As we take deliveries through the winter, this balance will be depleted.
-
The Masons hire the hall on a regular basis for their events, which include the use of the bar. In return for a proportion of the till takings, the Masons staff their own bar. From September 2024, that proportion was one third but in March 2025, that arrangement changed such that the Masons just receive a £75 cap.
-
The hall provides a stocked bar for Boxford Drama Group (BDG) productions. In return for BDG staffing the bar, the village hall gives them 40% of the takings for their shows.
