Another successful and busy year for HVHMC with regular events such as the
monthly Community Café and Film Nights. and our weekly'coffee & Chav on
Mondays being as popular as ever. We held a Glam Rock fundraiser night and
several Quiz nights throughout the year, as well as HATS staging their annual
pantomime produrtion. Haughley Village Hall provides something for
everyone in the village and the committee work hard to keep the hall well
maintained and looking its best for the Community.
HALL HIRE
Incorne from regular bookings has increased from £14,345.75 in 2024/2025
to £16,960.25 partly due to 2 new hirers, but also from an increase in hire
charges from 1st Sept 2025. It was agreed that hire charges should change to
seasonal pricing to reflect the increase in utilities costs. The 2 new hirers are
AUM (Alchemical Universal Mystery School] Relaxation Classes, which started
in March 2026 and are held monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the
MH. This fits with Haughley WI, who meet on the 1st Wednesday ofthe month
in the MH. The second new hirer is a Pilate's class who started in July 2025 and
meet in the MH between 7-8pm. There was originally an earlier class too
however numbers are currently reduced so it is just the one class.
Singing 4 Wellbeing who had moved into the MH on a Wednesday moved back
to the GR in September as numbers flurtuated. but this is still a popular and
successful group. They also gave a one off perforniance of a medley of their
songs at our Christtnas Community Cafe, which everyone enjoyed, and they
raised over £100 for Charity. They have already agreed to perforrn again at
this years Christmas Cafe
Income from Casual bookings has decreased slightly from £1,749.75 in
2024/2025 to £1,110.25. Bookings this year included 5 children's/family
parties, Church & RBL Quiz nights, a private yoga evenL MP Surgery, MSDC By-
Elections, IVI/PC organised VJ Dance and a rock band practice (GR).

FUNDRAISING
General Fund Raising this year has seen a decrease from £1,262.71 in
2024/2025 to £391.80. This was in part due to neither last years nor this
years Spring Quiz falling within the financial year. Funds (after costs) this year
were from the Chocolate Tombola and Human Fruit Machine at the Christmas
Light Switch on event raising £88.22, and the Glam Rock Disco held in March,
which raised £335.55. Tickets Sales for this event weren't as good as hoped
with only 43 sold, however the event itself was a success and enjoyed by all
who attended. Fundraising from both our Community Café and Film Nights has
increased from £680.44 to £1,043.20 and £69.07 to £154.87 respectively.
Along with the donations we receive from our very popular Coffee & Chat
mornings, which raised £1,324.17. Numbers for this are between 20-30 every
week with regular attendees, many who live alone and for them this weekly
catch up with friends old and new is an important part of their lives.
CLEANING
CARETAKING
Elizabeth Ardley-walker is still our cleaning services contrartor and doing an
excellent job keeping the VH clean and tidy and advising of any
problems/maintenance issues which may arise. The garden is kept tidy
during the summer rnonths by volunteers who cut the grass and maintain the
seating.
BUDGET
GRAKrs
We ended the financial year with a profit of £5,397.59 and a healthy balance in
the bank of £25 082.29. Following a recommendation in 2024 from Malcolm
Smith who conducts the review of VH accounts, we opened a higher-interest
account with Hampshire TrusL £20,000 was transferred into this in April 2026
leaving £5,082.29 in the current accounL With the increase in hire charges
including the seasonal change and new hirers, the deficit between the income
from regular bookings less general expenses has reduced significantly from -
£2,969.60 in 2025 to-£401.61.
No grants were applied for in this financial year. However a grant from the PC
to replace the front door. which should have been received in 2024/2025, was
paid in this financial year due to an error on their behalf.
RENOVATIONS
REPAIRS
No rnajor renovations/repairs have been carried out in this financial year.
FUTURE PRO
ECTS
The main project in the pipeline, which we have been working towards over
this year, is the complete renovation ofthe washrooms in the MH. This
includes ladies, gents and disabled facilities. So far we have received 3 quotes
between £31,564.45 + VAT and £28,695.OO+VAT. We are currently looking

into grants available to help fund the cost of this work and hope to secure
these in coming months to allow the workto be booked for July/August2027.
Other projects for the future include the redecoration of the interior of the
hall. We have had one quote so far for this work which was for £16,700.00,
but are currendy waiting for a second quote. We have also asked that the
quotes be broken down into areas so that the work could be done in stages.
Finally we hope to replace the current sinks/units in the MH kitchen and
possibly install an industrial dishwasher. Also to purchase a drinks fridge for
soft drinks sold at the Community Café and Film Nights.
COMMITTEE
This year we welcomed several new members to the committee - Dave
Walker, Rachel Atkins, Colin Denton and most recently Paula GozzetL This
brought the number of committee members up to 12, which is a welcome
relief after several years of struggling with minimum numbers. However we
are looking to recruit more new members as several current committee
members are looking to stand down in the near future. Also at this AGM we
sadly say goodbye to our longest standing committee member, Sue Lewis who
has not only been on the committee for about 20 years but has also been Vice-
Chair for the past 5 years. Sue has taken on the task of bringing all our policies
and risk assessments up to date and specifically the Fire Risk Assessment and
COSHH. Making sure thatwe have all the corrert signage and equipment in
place to keep all hall users safe. Sue is also a fabulous cake maker as I'm sure
those who attend our Community Cafes will agree. Sue I will hugely miss your
support and sage advise, but would like to thank you on behalf of the
committee for everything you have done for the village hall. I hope you enjoy
your retirement and spending more time with your family.
As always after reading back through my report I realise how much we have
achieved - keeping the village hall well maintsined for all users as well as
organising events such as the Quiz nights, Glam Rock night the monthly
Community Café and Film Nights, and now the weekly Coffee & Chat mornings.
