WINCANTON WAR MEMORIAL HALL MANAGEMENT COMMTTTEE ANNUAL REPORT BY THE CHAIRMAN FOR THE YEAR EIIDED 31 DECEIVIBER 2023 2023 saw continued support for the Hall by our local and wider communities and the diary has been busy. The type of Hirer 15 alteting and there have been a marked decrease in Private events but Fundraising events have increased. Two Regular groups have ceased hiring through 2023. which does have some impact on Regular income. Our thanks to those that have fundraised by holding table top sales foi donations towards the Hall this year. Our newest Commercial Letting is now installed and his business establishing. Due to the change of TenanL it meant that there were increased maintenance costs on that Rtal property to prepare it for rentsl again, due to the POOT condition of the interior of the property and there have been other maintenance and repairs. mainly roof repairs and redecoration afterwards on most of the rental properties this year. requiring RIllenced fiM]ds to be used for thi s purpose. The increase expected from higher charoes for our utilities and Insurnnce Premiums, etc., kicked in durino 2023 and have 5Lgnificantly increased outgoings. despite always seeking the best rates available to us. Despite this, the Hall has handled its, finances well during Covid and beyond, despite significant inflation and suppliers increases. due to the fact that the Trustees had put in place systems to allow for any unforeseen issues that might arise. The Defibrillator installed has already been in use and is, therefore. proving to be a valuable asset to Wincanton. The cleanliness of the building continues to be receiving ? (0d reports and this is mainly due to the dedication of our cleaner Karen without whom the building would not function so efficiently, due to her enablkng us to turn around bookinos quickty. As always the Trllstees thank Karen for her hard work. Thanks also to Lynn for keeping the office running smoothly. I would like to thank all the Trustees for volunteering their time, their dedication and attending meetings and for making decisions for the continued success of the Charity with its core value to keep the building for the use of the local community since its inception. The Trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the Charity and which enable them to ascertain the financial Position of the Charity and which enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with applicable law and regulations. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other ie{laritieS. The Charity's Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is our responsibility to: Examine the accounts (under section 145 of the 2011 Act)" To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act). and To state whether particular matters have come to our attention. Basis of IJ]dependent Examiners Statement Our examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
