Section D Achievements and performance

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

It has been a difficult year due to the Coronavirus pandemic for the Trust and that of the management committee who oversee the day to day running of Alice Park.

The APT Sub-Committee recognise the strong support it receives around finance, legal and governance which has enabled the committee to focus on maintaining the objectives of the park as a strong community asset.

There has been support to existing tenants and the creation of a new lease for the onsite cafe, and a soft approach to the development of a licensing process for commercial park users, although no major events have taken place.

The addition of a new skatepark is finally at completion, together with a collaboration with the All England Lawn Tennis Association to lease and completely refurbish the 6 tennis courts and to offer high quality facilities.

The committee is mindful of the high need to improve the children’s play area and this work has started with a supportive survey project undertaken by a local play provider of the B&NES community.

The Park has continued to operate with strong focus on current Covid guidelines with the support of park users, and look forward to a less constrained 2021/22

I think fellow committee members for their invaluable contributions in such a difficult year.

Should the trust have reserves in future years then the use of reserves would be managed and approved by the Alice Park Trust Sub-Committee as per its Terms of Reference.

Reserves that are restricted would be held specifically for the required purpose and unrestricted reserves would be held for the general support of the Trust.

The Alice Park Trust 2020121 Accourts- Independent Examinerfs Report
To confinn, I have:
examined the accounts under secti(M 145 of the 2011 Charities ACL
followed the procedures laid in the general Directions given by the commission under
section 145(5){b) of the 2011 ACL
stated whether particular matters have o)me to my attention.
Basi5 of my examinerfs report
My examination was carried oul in &cordance Imth the general dir￿t.0nS given by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a remew of the accounting rLurds kept for All￿ Park and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any
unusual it6yns or disclosures in the &counts, and seeking explanations conceming any such
matters.
The objective of the review was to provide reas￿able assuran￿ that the finanaal statements were
accurate and free from material misstatement. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assuran￿,
but it does not guarant￿ detection of a material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can
arise from fraud or error and are (x)nsidered material rf, individually, or in the aggregate, they could
reasonably te ewted to influence the decisior￿ of users taken on the basis of these financial
statements.
Independent examinerfs statement
In conn6Ytion with my examinatÈon, no matter has o)me to my attention which gives me reasonable
cause to believe that in any material reSp￿t the requirements have not b￿n meL Those such
requirements were as folbws:
to keep accounting records in ￿an￿ wtth section 130 of the 2011 CharÉties Act, and;
to prepare ￿Unts which accc(d with the accounting records and comply with the
accounting requirements of the 2011 Charities Act.
From my examination of the records, Ét is my opinion that I can provide reasonable assurance that
the Alice Park Trust financial StateM￿ts are tree from material misstatement.

NOTE: During my examination and through my liaison with those responsible for the maintaining the
accounts of the All￿ Park T￿￿t I corKluded the follo￿Ing.
l. All￿ Park Trust has a grc6s income of less than £250,000 and is therefore entitled to
prepare the accounts on a °Receipts and Payments. basis. corresponden￿ with the Charity
Commission received in January 2021 provided confim)ation for the basis of preparation.
2. Any deficit at year end is funded from the Council's general fund, which is reflected as
income in the Trusfs accounts.
