Report on the work of Farmborough Memorial Hall Committee May 2021 to April 2022
This year my report reflects another unusual year with Covid restrictions & guidance changing over this period, we are now back to business as pre-Covid although we ask users to consider how people may feel ‘comfortable’ in the Hall for the planned activity.
Fund raising with the Annual Craft & Gift Fayre resumed in October with adaptations but some ‘traditional’ fundraisers were cancelled due to Covid restrictions however we were again able to benefit for a shorter period from the Government Business Support Grants/Rural Rate Relief administered through the Local Authority & with the support from Parish Council grant we have keep planned improvements moving forward.
Finances have allowed us to:
-
replace the flat roof over the bar area & complete repairs to the flat roof over the canopy
-
paint the exterior of the hall, last done at least 12 years ago by volunteers
-
replace the guttering & downpipes
-
install a new screen & projection system
-
fund a Defibrillator which we hope is not used, but it complements the one outside the school.
The EV charge point, a joint initiative with the Parish Council, is live & I understand it is a rapid charge point, the only public one in B&NES!
Bookings wise our regular users are back & one off bookings are going well. We will need to look at hire rates in light of utilities increased costs but hopefully users will understand if changes are made, we’ve not had any increases for 4 years.
We are in the process of revamping our website while future plans include looking at the
I’m delighted to say the future for the Hall continues to be positive, but as always this depends on the support of the village and the organisations that regularly make use of this essential village resource.
Providing nothing changes I would like to alert to the date of the Craft Fayre Oct.15[th] 2022.
Finally, as Chairman I would like to thank all committee members for their hard work & willingness to take part in meetings through zoom or socially distanced depending on rules at the time! Again I would like to particularly single out Phil Gray for all he has done to keep all users informed of the position as it changed.
