TRUSTEE (CHAIRMAN’S) REPORT
ASH VILLAGE HALL
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – 6[TH] OCTOBER 2021
REGISTERED CHARITY NO. 304466
As I am sure you are all aware the last two years have been extremely challenging, the Pandemic causing us to close the Hall to all our regular hirers from March 2020 until March 2021. This severely curtailed our income over that period.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Committee for their enormous help and support during lockdown, their patience and hard work maintaining the Hall and helping with its redecoration. I would also like to thank Caz, the Treasurer, who managed to acquire both Government and County Council grants which greatly helped to keep our funds in the black.
On the plus side, during lockdown we have managed to completely redecorate the Hall including the stage area and the three stock rooms at the rear of the building. The old lighting on the stage has been updated to L.E.D strip lighting and the old curtains have been replaced with new fire-retardant ones. All the external windows are now double glazed with modern new blinds fitted.
I must mention that the late Ros Beattie very kindly gifted the Hall £4000 to replace the inter- connecting doors between the entrance hall and main hall as the originals were considered somewhat dangerous by both the Committee and hirers. The remaining money left over from replacing the doors was put towards the double glazing of the windows.
In the future it is our intention to replace the facias and soffits on either side of the hall with low maintenance UPVC units as the existing ones are now beginning to deteriorate. We are also looking into costings to bring the hall’s heating up to date with new modern efficient units thus making the heating system more cost effective.
On a final note, the School is regrettably no longer using our facilities, as their grant has been exhausted, and they are now unable to fund its use. This is a shame however the Committee had noticed that in School use the wear and tear on the building had increased especially to the detriment of the hall flooring.
I am pleased to announce that thanks to our pre covid hirers returning plus new hirers we are now nearly back to our pre covid usage levels, this has brought our weekly income virtually back to normal.
My apologies for my long and involved report but as I am sure as you can imagine a lot has happened in the last two years.
