## **Horning Village Hall, Mill Hill, NR12 8LF.**

## **Summary from Annual Report for the year to 31[st] December 2021.**

Horning Village Hall situated near the village centre adjacent to the Recreation Field and Car Park is registered with the Charity Commissioners (No. 303984) and constituted by Deed of Trust.

The Charity is administered by a management committee, comprising: Chairman/Treasurer - Mr Derrick F Vernall Secretary - Mrs Christine Charles Bookings Secretary - Mr Jack Wright. Other members Mr Robin Paskins, Mr Ralph Morris and Mr Julian Harrison. Mrs Lin Galley retired at the Annual General Meeting and with no new nominations the above members were re-elected to serve another term of one year.

The prime aim of the charity is to provide and maintain the Village Hall for the communal benefit of local residents and the surrounding area. The committee aims to provide first class facilities at an affordable cost to voluntary organisations serving the community and “locals” to meet and enjoy their leisure time.

To achieve this commitment the Committee have agreed for the fourth consecutive year not to increase hire charges during this financial year.

The charity currently employs a part-time cleaner and depends upon the continuing help of local volunteers, normally retirees, to help organise various activities throughout the year.

In a delayed start to the year due to a further outbreak of Covid 19 the Hall was closed from January to the middle of May which obviously had an impact on our annual Income and expenditure budget.

However, with generous funding from the government furlough scheme and good housekeeping we achieved a surplus for the year which allowed capital expenditure for two replacement fire doors and purchase of a table storage trolley.

After re-opening the number of bookings and attendance levels due to Covid 19 were low, and several clubs delayed opening until later in the year which also affected our annual income. However, some 12 of the 18 regular clubs and organisations weathered the storm and by the end of the year all had returned and bookings were back to normal.

Cash reserves at the end of the year were at a record level due to the government grants, some of which will be used in the coming twelve months to meet the costs of proposed improvements in the Hall. Assuming no further interruption(s) the annual income for financial year 2022 is forecast to return to normality at approximately £21,000.
