## **Ryburgh Memorial Hall and Playing Field**

## **Chairman’s report**

It has been a year of achievement for both charities which has involved lot of hard work from the committee.

We received grants from the Asda Foundation, North Norfolk District Council and Tesco Stronger starts. These enabled the charity to install a number of energy efficient measure within the hall such as new front doors, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and heating monitoring and controlling equipment.

The Tesco Stronger Starts grant enabled us to make vital repairs to some of the play equipment on the field and a further grant from the parish council enables to purchase our own grass cutter.

Repairs have been made to the tractor shed door and the tractor shed itself has had a clear out.

We have made further purchases of a sound and light system, crockery and glassware and a floor polisher.

A dart board and new LED lighting have been added to the hall and a donated goal net has been installed on the field.

We have built a good and close relationship with the Parish Council and Crisp Maltings, both of which have assisted us this year.

The hall is in almost constant use with many successful events and rentals.

We currently have weekly exercise classes and puppy training classes and on a monthly basis the hall has been hired for Parish council meetings, Ryburgh Wildlife group meetings, Crisps Malting meetings.

The hall and field have been used for the Spring Show, the Village show, the Family Fun Day, the tractor run, the Pop-up pub, the Ryburgh’s got talent event, the Christmas dinner, table top sales, craft fairs, quiz nights, parties and bingo.

Being on the committee can be a pretty thankless task. This year, the members of the committee have recorded well in excess of **850** hours. Much of this goes unnoticed in the village; but not by me. I record my thanks to all the members of the committee for their contributions during the year. And we have had valuable assistance throughout the year from residents of the village who are not on the committee.

Sadly, two committee members have given notice of their future intentions. Our secretary will step down at next year’s AGM although they would like to remain as treasurer of the playing field. Also, the hall treasurer will be stepping down when the work relating to the Asda grant has been concluded. We will be actively looking for people to step into these roles.

In summary and conclusion, 2024/25 has been an exceptional year in the lives of the village hall and playing field. We hope that 2025/26 will continue in the same vein.
