## TRUSTEES REPORT 2024-25

Operated by Management Committee to include Trustees, and to meet at least four times a year. Appeals for volunteers and trustees were carried out by way of public notices throughout the villages although there was very little response. 

## ACTIVITIES & OBJECTIVES 

The aim of the PFA was to maintain the pavilion at Barney, and the two playing fields in Barney and Fulmodeston, including the provision and maintenance of the play and fitness equipment thereon to enable the full use of the facilities by the public for their enjoyment and well-being. 

In 2022-23 it was decided by the committee to create a new sports and recreation facility at Barney by replacing the existing pavilion which was not fit for purpose nor environmentally sound. Since then, efforts were made to obtain planning consent (granted May 2023) and thereafter raise the required funds to enable such a project to commence and be completed. Once planning consent was granted it was necessary for local authority building control consent to be obtained, requiring detailed plans to be drawn up, undertaken by professional architectural draughtsmen. 

## ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE 

Accordingly the PFA set about organising fundraising events together with grant applications to apply for the necessary funding of the project from both national and local funding bodies. Various events were held during the year which relied upon both the committee members and volunteers to organise. Several grant applications were successful and which contributed approximately £75,000 towards the scheme in the year. 

The committee obtained quotations from building contractors and after assessment selected one and a start date for commencement of works was given as February 2025.Conditional building control consent had been granted allowing the work to commence

Meanwhile the two playing fields were well maintained by the committee and the proposed project created much public interest with a considerable number of donations of around £4,000. Regular safety inspections of the play equipment were undertaken and an annual independent inspection is commissioned by a playground equipment company. 

Our reserves policy is to retain £1200 pa for essentials. 

There were no debts in 2024-2025.
