Janet welcomed everybody and made comment on the huge turnout. She thanked everyone for
th
coming and supporting I Wallington on their 115 anniversary.
She advised it had been a very successful year with all sections doing lots of amazing thlngs
indoors and out. Squirrels have now completed a year and are doing well.
She thanked all the people who give up so much of their time for the benefit of the children. the
section leaders and assistants, parents and the young leaders who help across the groups.
She thanked Jon Slade from Croydon District for running the archery, Dave Batten from Kingston
District for running the Climbing. She also thanked Sam Linley from Croydon and to David James
and his team for manning the BBQ She said it showed the full spirit of Scouting and the wider
st
Scouting family and shows that we are much bigger than I Wallington and spread to all corners
of the world.
Janet welcomed back two scouts who attended the World jarnbo￿e in South Korea in August.
Whilst it may not have gone to plan she has been assured they had a ma￿ellouS time.
She asked for help and hoped that with such a lot of parents in attendance there must be some
who can spare a little time for the benefit of our young people.
She advised that we need a couple more people to join the Board of Trustees which meets
regularly to make sure the nuts and bolts of the group are kept up to scratch.
She advised the group desperately needs a fundraising committee of 3 or 4 people. A huge
amount of money has been spent over the last couple of years on the minibus, cooker and new
roof. The costs have run into many thousands of pounds and depleted the bank balance. The
money needs to be replaced and responsibility cannot be down to the leaders who already give
so much time volunteering. She asked if anyone was willing, to come forward and offer their
services.
Janet also advtsed that the group needs a few people to join a maintenance team which
currently consists of just David our Scout leaders. He can't be expected to do cover maintenance
on his own when he has so much to do running his section. For thi5, you do not need to be part
of the Board of Trustees. She asked anyone willing to talk to any of the Board of Trustee
members or group leaders.
Finally she advised everyone to enjoy the BBQ and any donations towards food would be
gratefully accepted.

"A Year of Growth and Impact"
l am thrilled to present the Annual Report for 1st Wallington, marking our 116th year. This
vear has been a remarkable journey. filled with exciting activities and achievement5 across
all sections. l extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated leaders and their a5SiStants for
their tireless efforts in creating inspiring and challenging programs for our young people.
Please explore the individual section reports for a detailed account of our year's
accomplishments.
I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of my fellow Executive
Committee members, whose hard work behind the scenes has ensured the smooth
functioning of our Group.
Once again, I hurnbly request your support. Consider volunteering your time or encouraging
others to join us. Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding, offering opportunities for
personal growth and making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
Scouting can also provide numerous benefrts for you:
Build lasting friendships
Step outside your comfort zone
Embrace the great outdoors
Make a differen￿ in your communlty
Create unforgettable memorie5
Whether you can commit to regular involvement or occasional assistance, we welcome your
support. If you're interested in joining our team as a leader, activity planner, or volunteer,

GROUP SCOUT VOLUNTEER REPORT 2023-2024
Well we have had a very good year he￿ at I st Walllington.
All section5 are fvll and we have a waiting list for all sections. so we must be doing
something righL
Sadly we have had to say goodbye to Linda Joiner- Penguin- who ha5 hung up her woggle
after 18 years in the Beaver Section. Linda was renowned for her craft ideas and will be
sorely missed. Linda was also key to Jumble Sales and other fund raising artivities and was
very much part of the I st Wallington Team. We wish her very best wishes and hope to see her
from time to time
As you can see from the reports all sections have been busy with inslde and outside activities,
giving all our young people a5 many different experlences as they can. l am glad to report
that that three parents have come on board as Leader5 mainly for Squirrels but if anyone out
there would like to join as a Leader on a regular ba515 we will welcome you with open arms!
We do need another Leader in Beavers now that Linda has gone.
Meanwhile I would like to thank all our current Leaders and assistants along with Explorer
Scouts as Iyoung Leaders throughout the sections who glve so much of their time for the
benef5t of your chTldren. Also the Trustee Board Members who assist in the background
running the Group and the premises. making sure we have enough money to keep everything
running smoothly. This too could do with a couple more parents, as new ideas and input are
vital for future projects.
We also need quite urgently someone with some maintenance experience to help out wlth
repairs and general assistance with the fabric of the building. Fund raising 15 at being carried
out by Jo Luck who is trying to set up a Fund Raising Committee to raise funds for various
projects such as hall redecoration. new basement doors etc. These two jobs do not require you
to be a member of the Trustee Board.
There are many changes afoot within Scouting and you will notice that all Leaders will have
a change of name. Section Leaders will be called Lead Volunteer and then the section name. I
will be called Group Lead Volunteer IGLVI and all Assistant and Section A55iStants will be
called Team members then Section. There are also changes to the Trustee Board and how the
AGM is run. We will all get used to it in time, but certain things won't change, Akela is still
Akela, Rainbow is still Rainbow for example and l am still Janet !
So overto you parents for help and 5UPPOrt of 1st Wallington Volunteersl

BEAVERS SECTION ANNUAL REPORT 2023-2024
We try to diversrfy the activities to incorporate seasonal and topical subjects in orderto
empower the Beavers with the latest goings on.
Encourage and promote regional and county activities to show inclusiveness like the
Remembrance Day Parade, District campfire and the Pantomime. All these events were well
attended .
A Min￿St George'5 Day Parade happened in Carshalton Park with another local Scout
Group. We marched around the park and then renewed the promise.
Activities to achieve the badges are all performed over a period of weeks.
A visit to the Ecology Centre is always a fun event whereby there is a hike involved followed
by trying to study the flora and fauna of the area.
We also managed to achieve the Builders Badge, for which they built models out of junk and
cardboard boxes and the Experiment Badge.
The Cyclist badge was done in two stages whereby on the first week the children brought In
their bicycle5 or scooters and helrnets. They were guided through all the safety checks and
correct procedures regards cycling on the roads and public safety.
The second week we had arranged an instructor to go out into the park and observe the
cycling technique5, unfortunately the weather was not compliant. Therefore, plan B was
initiated, and observations were made in the hall.
Individual techniques were observed.
Grass sledging is another favorite activity enjoyed by all.
Finally, I would like to thank Wayne, Debra. and Janet who has been called upon in SOS
situations, and all the parents who gave up their time and helped u5 ,1 will be introducing
the parent Rota again in the new term as we are short of helpers and leaders.
A massive thank you to Linda [Penquin] for all her support throughout the years, who has
stepped aside for personal reasons. Although she will be helping us, if and when, but not on
a regular basis as before.
