The Trustees present their Annual Report a5 under, together wlth the Annual Accounts a5 attached, for the year ended 31rt March 2024. These have been prepared In accordance with the Trust Deed and the Charities Art 2011. th OBJECTS OF THE CHARrrY The object of the charlty Is promotin8the development of young people In achievin8theirfull physical. Intellectual, soclal and spiritual potentia15, a5 indlvlduals. as responslble citizen5 and as rnembers of thelr local. natlonal and irrternatlonal communltles. AcfivrnES AND ACHIEVEMEpirs The Group contlnues to be managed by the Trustee Board. The Board Implements the restructurln8 to encourage lay members, responsibilities, to avold repetltlon. and to Improve the overall effettiveness of the Board whilst allowing all those who have an Interest to share their views and build on the su￿0MMIttee structures that were establlshed over the last few years. The Boards maSn functlon Is to mana8e OUT assets - headquarter. boats. equlpment and facilltles on Ravens Alt that support the leaders In delivering the actlvltles for the youn8 people. The Board continues to carry out and coordinate fundraising actlvltles. and malntalns Ilnks with stakeholders. includlng the Local Authority. community, school. and Church. The Group remaln5 In a healthy posltlon financially although there Is a vlrtually operatlnE loss where spendlng Is more than income even wlth the recelpts of the last two years, Gift Aid clalms. However, due to the rise In general operating cost. we mlght need to con51der a small Increase In subscrlptlon fees whlch have not been changed for over 10 years. In the last 12 months, we invested In a secondhand 818 which is In an excellent condltlon. We purchased new life jackets and new tables for the headquarter. Thanks to Dan, Warran and the malntenance tsam, we refvrblshed our changln8 room in Ravens Ait and kept our small crafts well- maintained. The Group has continued to develop throughout 2023124 and remain5 the second largest in the Dlstrict. We have a waftlng Ilst from chlldren Outslde the Group which are offered places If vacancles arise, although prlorlty for places Is always given to ensuring we can provlde transltlon between the tralnln8 sectlons forexlstln8 members. Each ofthetrainlng sectlons has a healthy numberof members. The pro8ramme alms to provide a progression In challenge throu8h each of the a8e 8roups represented by the section5 wlth the opportunlty for a chlld a8ed six to pass through the Beavers, Cubs. Scouts and eventually Explorer scouts.

We have had many outdoor activitie5 across the dlfferent sectlons over the year with good turnout. Flnally. the Group stlll has access to Raven'5 Ait for its bcatlng actlvftles. Whlle payln8 rent directly to the mana8emenL our access to Raven'5 Ait contlnues from a lease granted through the Royal Borough of Kln8Ston upon Thames. which we remaln very grateful for, and Is an integral part of the Success of the Scout and Explorer scout settions of ljt Surbiton. We are In discussion wlth Ravens Alt's management team to resofve the rental Issue at Ravens Alt due to rent increase request. RESERVE POUCY The Trustee Boar(Ys alm Is to break even, coverlng all expenses and to have sufflclent In reserve (£25.000 Is our stated position) to cover wear and tear on equlpment and to make sure we can cover any unexpected expenses. for example, lease extenslon for the headquarter. We also have reseNe funds for boat replacements. a new vehlcle andlor a mlnl traller. R15K MANAGEMENT The Board have examlned the malor rlsks whlch the charlty faces and conflrm that systems have been establlshed to enable regular reports to be produced to them to lessen such rlsks. TRUSTEES The Group Trustee boards are: Roger Jones (Group Presldent), Penny 81undell (Group Scout Leader). Henrlk Svensson (Group Chalr), Linh 8ul (Group Treasurer) and Lynda Bennett. STATEMEKf OF TRUSTEES. RESPONSIBIUTIES Law appllcable to charltles in England & Wales requlres trustees to prepare accounts for each financlal year. In vlew of Its size the charlty is entltled to prepare accounts on the alternative recelpts and payments basls. The trustees are responslble for keeplng accounting records which disclose wlth reasonable accuracy the flnanclal posltlon of the charfty, and whlch enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the appllcable law. They are also responslble for safeguardlng the assets of the charfty and hence for taklng reasonable steps for the prevention and detertlon of fraud and other Irregularities.
