**4th Enfield Scout Group Treasurer’s Report (2025)**

The financial position of the Group remains sound, with good reserves, some of which have been used over the period for exceptional expenditure funding.

I would like to thank the helpers in the sections in managing the collection of membership subscriptions, the purchases needed for section meetings and activities, and the excellent record keeping. I would also like to thank our Accounts Independent Examiner for this year, Enver Huseyin.

The Group General Fund recorded a loss of £40k helping to fund the roof work at the premises. The fund was also used for the running costs of the premises and to part fund some of the exciting activities enjoyed by the scouts. There was a further transfer of £30000 from our income generating investment deposits to meet the significant outlay. This is not a concern as the Group General Fund retains a sufficient balance to meet our short term needs, and was in the budgeting plan for the roof work.

We are coming to the end of the current spend on the roofing work and hope this will see the premises sufficiently watertight for the next 10 – 20 years.

The Group paid £3729 (a considerable +15% on 2024) Capitation fees, towards central costs of the Scout Association. The share contributed by the Sections has been held constant at £15 per head for many years despite the yearly rises in the fees. For 2025 the share from the Sections was increased to £25 with the balance being met by the General Fund income.

Members’ subscriptions paid from the Sections totalled £7240, leaving the group with £3511 plus £1045 from a Gift Aid tax reclaim, once the capitation was paid. In addition, there were parent/carer contributions of £18822, against the activities expenditure of £23302. This is in line with our policy of using subs, grants, investment income and reserves towards the expenditure, and additional charging for some activities to help meet the costs.

General Fund net income for Group purposes amounted to £34.6k. Our outgoings for the premises and supporting the sections were met by the fund, but the fund did decrease by £10k overall due to using it to part fund the roof work.

Excluding the repair extraordinary outlay, running costs for the premises has slightly increased compared to the previous year.

The Scout Troop Contingency Fund (Dixon Bequest) generated an income of £1.85k which is a small decrease in the improvement seen the previous year, but is an overall positive trend over a 3 year period. There was no expenditure from the fund and the balance increased to £97.4k at the year end. The underlying investments of the fund were revised and rationalised during the period, and are expected to improve the yield moving forwards and this will be used to part fund some of the expenditure in the scouting section.

Income and expenditure of the Fred Hearn Bequest Fund, reserved for any major expense in the upkeep and improvement of the Headquarters building, showed a surplus of £10.9k, which represents a slight decrease on the previous year due to some of the underlying investment being drawn to part fund the roof improvement work. The balance of £60.2k, down from £79.4k on Income and Expenditure for this fund (mainly from investment

dividends) was carried forward to the 2026 accounting year. The fund will continue to be used to pay for the remainder of the roof work.
