OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document: Our Scout Group exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

The Scout Association (governing body) is incorporated by Royal Charter to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The Scout method is a programme of informal education with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities, including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking, and sports.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole:

Beavers Monday

5 Beavers achieved their Bronze award. Highest badge in Beavers and the beavers also enjoyed going Canoeing great fun!

Beavers Wednesday

In 2024 we had a great day out at the Brent Roar Camp, a bonfire at the hut, welcomed new members and completed the safety badge.

Cubs Tuesday

We had fun at the Brent Roar Camp, a few bonfires and have achieved disability awareness badge and are working our communicator and various challenge badges

Cubs Friday

Attended the ROAR District camp at Phasels Wood in October...chilly but fun. The cubs also attended the swimming gala in November. 3 Cubs gained their silver awards in 2024 Scouts Wednesday

Last year we went camping with many of the other Brent Scouts. We worked on our map skills and knots. As well as making some fantastic printed bags and Christmas Wreaths. We got outside for some fun round the camp fire and learnt how to bake Soda bread. Scouts Thursday

Scouts last year took part in a Chiltern 20 challenge and Roar Camp also 7 scouts completed the expedition challenge and 5 of them completed the gold Chief Scout Award , we took part in Monopoly Run , we have 3 scouts moved up to explorers section and continues the adventure in older section . For the future I will be have to sending My scouts to other explorer groups as Pioneer ESU is full . We are planning our Winter Camp at Paccar 21-23 February, coming up expedition in April , Monopoly run in March, and lots of training for Chiltern 20 - October/November . This term we will be working on a cyclist badge , survival badge, and push for personal challenge and leadership challenge.

The Scout Association (Registered Charity No. 306101) is incorporated by Royal Charter.

Every Scout Group is an unincorporated association constituted in accordance with the Rules of The Scout Association. Scout Groups are excepted charities under Statutory Instrument 1966 No. 1044.

The Charter of The Association provides for the making of By-Laws approved by His Majesty in Council which, in turn, authorise the making of the Rules referred to above (known as ‘Policy, Organisation and Rules’, or ‘P.O.R.’).

The District’s charity trustees, who are the Executive Committee, cannot act outside the Royal Charter, By-Laws and Rules of The Scout Association.

Independent examina,on of 28[th] Willesden Scout Group Annual Accounts 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 report to Trustees.

The report relates to an independent examina1on that has been carried out under sec1on 145 of the 2011 Act and the examina1on has been conducted in accordance with the Direc1on given by the Commission. It should be noted that the examina1on is limited in scope and does not cons1tute an audit. The examina1on was conducted by Paul Marshall (CMA), member of the Charted Ins1tute of Management Accountants.

As charity trustees of the Group you are responsible for the prepara1on of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Chari1es Act 2011 (the Act).

I note that the gross income of the organisa1on is less the £250,000 and that the trustees have elected to prepare the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
