Group Scout Leader Report

Happy 70[th] Birthday! Our birthday year has been a fantastic celebration with activities (including this one) to celebrate our 7 decades. It has also been an emotional year for many reasons with highs and lows, but throughout 2023 & 2024, the one thing that you have been able to count on is the dedication of our wonderful volunteers, the huge range of activities and experiences that they have provided and the enthusiasm, warmth and excitement that our youth members bring.

St George’s Day Parade

Despite the weather, the young people at St Luke’s did the group proud and provided an impressive (if slightly damp) sight to all the crowds who lined the street in the town as we proceeded to the church. Thank you to all of them and to the support from the side lines!

Group Camp – Pirate Camp

Pirate Camp was a fantastic weekend of games, activities, singing and laughter which brought all our sections together. St Luke’s Group events are like no either and this one featured a pirate ship built of scaffolding so you could walk the plank, crafts, axes and much more.

70[th] Birthday Challenge

The Group Leadership team started our 70[th] birthday challenges earlier this year and we can’t wait to see the results.

70[th] Birthday Camp – Horrible Histories

What an extravaganza! With 4 zones – Medieval, Stone Age, Wild West and Futuristic – the activities were off the chart this weekend. Tomahawks, archery, crafts in the roundhouse, horseshoe throwing, cave painting, rock climbing, the space challenge, as well as a campfire and even a silent disco for the Scouts and Explorers. The best way to celebrate 70 years!

Church Development & Scout Storage

Working with Group Executive Committee, we have been developing solutions to the loss of some of our storage caused by the church developments. You will have seen the building of the new storage building on

4

the Scout HQ grounds which should hopefully give us a lot more space. Thanks in particular to Jim Lakin for his expertise in guiding us through the whole process.

In the coming year, we will have to deal with car park closures, some more disruption and potentially some temporary tenants from the church when the main building work happens.

Transformation

The Scout Association is going through transformation at the moment and some systems and processes are changing behind the scenes. St Luke’s is also going through its own transformation too, with roles that are changing - including my own.

Group Membership

At the time of the census in February, there were 156 members in the Group, including the adults. Due to the way Scouting works, this doesn’t consider the Explorer Scout section. As you can see, this makes the group the biggest it has been for nearly 10 years (and possibly longer but my records don’t go back that far!)

Leadership

There has, as always, been some changes to our leadership team over the course of the year. Torz Dervisoglu, our fantastic Monday Scout Leader, has sadly made the decision to step down from her role. We are very sorry to see her go and will miss her creativity and enthusiasm. Heather Brooks will be stepping into the breach on a Monday night with a wealth of experience and we thank her for taking on the job. Nicola Beesley joined the Monday Scout team in September and has been a great addition to that brilliant team.

Henry Mann, who has taken Jaguars from strength to strength, has also sadly resigned as the Explorer Scout Leader at Jaguars. Henry has been an absolute rock on a Tuesday evening and Jaguars have enjoyed huge success on his watch, but time commitments have meant that he needs to step down whilst remaining part of the team. Halvor Wood will be transferring to Jaguars and taking on the Explorer Scout Leader role. We wish him every success!

Jessica Beesley has joined the leadership team on a Thursday, having already played a huge role as a young leader whilst Carrie Revell has taken on a Group Section Assistant role on the same night. Thank you to them both for supporting Sam so well. Sadly though, we have lost Ben Homewood as a regular leader on a Thursday as he returns to studies but we’re sure that we will see him again in the future.

Our Wednesday team has been strengthened by Jeremy Martin and we thank him too for volunteering his time.

As I mentioned above, I have also announced my resignation from the Group Lead Volunteer role due to my heavy and increasing commitments at work and the need to enjoy my Scouting with perhaps a little less responsibility for a while. I am thankful that Sarah Wood agreed to take on the role and will be handing over to her in the next 6 months or so.

Thanks

Wow! 2024! What a rollercoaster of emotions and through it all, St Luke’s has continued to develop and thrive. I know that you will join me in thanking all the section leaders Derek “Rikki” Long, Torz Dervisoglu, Halvor Wood, Graham Embleton, Sam Hurley, Henry Mann and Jim Lakin as well as all their team members.

Jim Martin, David Hubble & Clare Foulsham’s work on the Trustee Board is greatly appreciated by us all and my two Assistant Group Lead Volunteers, Sarah Wood & Dave Brooks are exceptional in their support, knowledge and dedication. Thank you.

My family has put up with my stress and my boring admin for so long. I thank them every year and this is no different. Thank you to Cath, Amie & Tom.

5

Gavin Mills ended his report by showing a video of this year’s Scouting highlights, which included all sections Sheila Goodhew – Memorial and Thanks given to the family. Peter Taylor – Tribute and Memorial given and will be followed by Tree Planting after the AGM. Jim Martin thanked Gavin Mills for everything he has done and continues to do for the group. Election of Officers for 2024/25 Group Constitution was agreed unanimously as in POR 5.4 Jim moved on to the election of the Trustee Board Members. The following names were proposed by the Group Exec at their last meeting: 1.Group Lead Volunteer - Gavin Mills 2.Chairman - Jim Martin 3. Treasurer - Dave Hubble 4. Secretary - Clare Foulsham 5. Representative of Leadership committee Lead - Sarah Wood 6. Representative of Maintenance Sub Committee Lead - Jim Lakin 7. Co-opted member - Halvor Wood 8. Co- opted member Derek Long 9.Parent Representative – Still seeking This leaves leeway for 3 co -opted members if required. Agreed unanimously District Lead Volunteer Address

Linda thanked the group and leaders for the engagement of young people. Big Thanks to Gavin for steering the group so well over the years Awards presented: Ray Taylor 5 years David Hubble – 5 years Close of Meeting followed by Memorial Tree planting for Peter Taylor and Group activity Afternoon.

The official part of the meeting closed at 13.40pm Jim Martin thanked all for attending and invited everyone to the Tree planting ceremony in the grounds of Hamlet Wood.

Chairman’s Report 2025

St. Luke’s Scout Group continues to thrive and grow under the leadership team of Gavin Mills and Sarah Wood. Working together they are ensuring that all young people and volunteers are enjoying and getting the most out of their Scouting. A massive thanks to them both and of course their families who sometimes come second to Scouting!

All the Leaders at St. Luke’s are volunteers and give up an enormous amount of their time to organise their sectional programmes, camps, sleepovers, outings and opportunities to take part in county and District activities. They want your young people to benefit from as many different experiences as possible and I am sure that parents and carers are grateful to them for their commitment and expertise.

Last year I reported the sad loss of Peter Taylor (Trant) a lifelong member of St. Luke’s, giving over 60 years’ service to Scouting. He was totally committed to Scouting and is missed very much – but referred to affectionately all the time. Peter was a selfless person, giving his time and energy to the Group. He has been selfless too in leaving the Group a legacy of £115,000. The Trustees and Leaders have thought long and hard about this truly amazing gift and what to do with it. Since the Headquarters was built in 1960, we have rented the land from the Church for a nominal charge. We want to secure the future of the Group and so we entered into negotiations with the Church to purchase the freehold of the land the Hut occupies. I am pleased to say that following valuations, the Church accepted our offer. Currently the purchase and registry of the land is being dealt with by solicitors acting for the Group and the Church. We will celebrate Peter’s legacy once everything is finalised and we have the deeds in our hands!

Transformation continues apace and everyone in Scouting is either getting used to it or sees little change – Roles have changed slightly and we are now all in Teams – we have always been a team at St. Luke’s and long may it continue.

If you would like to be part of the team at St. Luke’s there are many ways you can get involved – either at a section sharing your skills and knowledge, and hopefully learning some new ones along the way, or in the background ensuring that the group complies with all the necessary charitable governance. There is always work to do around the hut and in the grounds and extra hands would be most welcome. Volunteering is good for you – you meet people, give something back to your community and most importantly have fun! Come and chat to one of us if you would like to find out more.

Treasurer’s Report 2025

The group consolidated account for the year ended 31[st] March 2025 has been compiled and is published following this report. To the best of my knowledge the accounts have been prepared in full accordance with the rules and guidelines as prescribed by the Charity Commission and policy, organisation, and rules of the Scouts association.

Receipts and Payments account summary

I am very pleased to be reporting on a healthy set of accounts. The Group has had a surplus of £102,910 This is mainly due to a donation from Peter Taylors family of 115,302.

Apart from the Peter Taylor family donation income for this year would have been relatively flat. There has a small increase in the amount received through subscriptions due to increased members.

Payments out have also increased this year with the capitation fee having increased 9%. More money has been spent this year on the upkeep of the hut & hut improvements including the new storage unit. Insurance costs have also increased this year.

The accounts summary is the same as the last few years, which we hope is clear to read. On the next page shows a summary of the receipts and the payments as well as the funds held by the group at the end of the year. We only publish the abbreviated account, however if you wish to view the full set of accounts, we’ll be pleased for you to view them this evening or you will be able to do so on the Charity Commission website in the coming months.

Group Lead Volunteer Report 2024

What a year! This time last year we were celebrating our 70[th] birthday and since then the group has continued to go from strength to strength. The team of volunteers that dedicate their time to making memories with their sections and teaching them new skills continues to amaze me with their brilliance, determination and originality as St Luke’s continues to develop and give the young people of Maidstone opportunities, friendships and adventure.

Group Membership

At the time of the census in February, there were 138 members in the Group, including the adults. Due to the way Scouting works, this doesn’t consider the Explorer Scout section.

Leadership

The leadership team has been pretty consistent this year after the changes last year.

Sadly though, we are saying farewell to Nathalie Bot who has been part of the Thursday team for over 10 years and has been a fantastic driving force of the section for so long. We wish her all the best!

Dave Hubble, our superb group treasurer, has also decided that it is time to hand over to somebody else and we are on the hunt for someone who can keep an eye on the numbers for us. Dave has been a huge asset to the group, having had no link to us before, and I know that the whole leadership team and trustee board will miss him.

Last year, I also announced my resignation from the Group Lead Volunteer role due to my heavy and increasing commitments at work and the need to enjoy my Scouting with perhaps a little less responsibility for a while. Sarah Wood has now taken over the leadership of the group. She has been a fantastic member of the Group Leadership Team and I know that I am handing over to someone with a passion for ensuring that St Luke’s Scout Group thrives.

Events

After the big birthday celebrations last year, whole group events have taken a bit of a backseat. However, this being St Luke’s, the activities continued at pace and you can read all about it in the pages following my little report. In addition, we all got together for St George’s Day parade in April and were amazed by the turnout. Thank you for all your support!

Behind the Scenes

Much of the Group Lead Volunteer’s role goes on out of the sight of the young people and the parents. We have been working hard to move into our new teams and start the new Trustee Board and Group Leadership Team which have started well and had to make some big decisions following Peter Taylor’s generosity to the group. Work on the purchase of the land is the next big job and will secure the future of the group for generations to come.

Please indulge me…

As I mentioned earlier, 2025 is the year that I am handing over the reins of the Group Scout Leader/ Group Lead Volunteer role after 10 years or so of leading the group. I’m sure that you will know how much the group means to me, what an amazing place I think it is and how important I think it is to keep it thriving for the young people in north Maidstone, as I once was.

Being Group Lead Volunteer is not all plain sailing. My time in charge had a rocky start (I was only supposed to be temporary), getting a lottery grant and rebuilding the building, surviving Covid, reopening whenever we could and beginning to transform the experience. We’ve celebrated three anniversaries (the first one was about a month after I took over), had to find two sections’ worth of leaders, said goodbye to some of our oldest volunteers and started building to secure the group for the future. It’s been a rollercoaster!

Commuting up from Staplehurst and the demands of my job though mean that it is now time for me to hand over. I’m not going away completely though and will stay on the trustee board. I hope that by making this change, Scouting will once again simply become doing great things whilst having fun with my mates, rather than feeling guilty about the things that I don’t have time to do.

As I sign off, I need to say “thank you” to so the whole leadership team who run such good programmes that leading them is a pleasure. Thank you in particular to Heather, Rikki, Halvor, Graham, Sam and Jim Lakin whose teams just seem to get better and better. Thanks also to Dave Brooks and Sarah Wood for being my assistant Group Scout Leaders and then whatever that role became! I’ve really appreciated everything you’ve done. Good luck to all of you moving forward. I know that you and Sarah will take the group forwards and continue its work.

Thank you also to all the other section leaders who have come and gone in the last 10 years. Every single one of you has made an impact and given the group something special.

I must also thank my Chairman, Jim Martin, who jumped into the role (also temporarily) 10 years ago when I needed a guide and support in a challenging time. His knowledge, patience and support have always meant that I’ve felt as though we could do anything. Thank you also to the Trustees who sit through meetings to make sure that everything works!

Last thanks, as always, to Cath, Amie and Tom who I’ve had to reassure will not lose their links to St Luke’s. I’m off for a little break and then will be back very soon!

At present we have 19 beavers, 14 boys and 5 girls. During the year we have invested 13 beavers, 5 have gone up to cubs and 4 have left.

We have continued to work towards the Challenge Badges all of which have been regularly awarded during the year and three beavers have been awarded the Chief Scout’s Bronze award which is the highest award a beaver can get. It is particularly difficult to get this award because beavers need to have taken part in a scout camp or sleepover although I have sometimes been allowed to count a sleepover with family or friends provided neither parent was present. We have achieved the following activity badges: Health and Fitness, Global Issues, Disability Awareness, Creative, Space, Explore and Air Activities.

We have enjoyed a full range of activities during the year and our programmes have covered a wide variety of topics which have qualified the beavers for the Challenge Badges. We have visited Mote Park, Penenden Heath, Cuckoo Woods and the little park at Recreation Close. We have had international evenings with appropriate food. We have had a visit from a man called River who rescues animals including wild animals. He brought an amazing selection of animals including a rat who had an amazing personality and loved being stroked. The beavers did not disappoint him! We had our traditional Walk in the Dark. We ended the summer term with our traditional sausage sizzle and tiger hunt. This year it was a nice fine evening and I think we caught sight of the tiger. Jim Lakin sizzled the sausages again and we are very grateful to him – thanks Jim.

7 beavers attended the district pirate camp in May. Alyss was in charge of our beavers and made sure they really enjoyed themselves. Graham Embleton was a big help with the camp for the beavers and we are really grateful to him – thanks Graham. We took part in the two districts St. George’s Day Parade with a march through the centre of Maidstone and I was very proud of our beavers who were smart and well behaved.

So far as the adults are concerned we still have Mrs Sarah Davis and Mrs Alyss Hutchins with William Wood as a young leader. Sarah and Alyss are just wonderful and work so very hard for beavers which simply could not run without them. William is great as a young leader and the beavers are very fond of him. We really need at least one more leader (or volunteer as we are now supposed to call them) and I am trying to find one. If anyone reading this has ever thought about it do let us know!

I should like to thank Gavin, the former Group Lead Volunteer, for his help and support during the year and look forward to working with Sarah Wood the new Group Lead Volunteer. Thanks to all the leaders and members of other sections who have helped including David Brooks who is especially great when it comes to cooking. I expect I have failed to thank someone who has helped us and I hope they will forgive me because I am just as grateful to them as I am to everyone else.

Thanks to the parents who have turned up when asked and thanks to all the parents for trusting us with their children because, as I have said many times before, there is no greater trust you can put in anyone.

At the beginning of the reporting period, our Wednesday Night Cub Pack had a strong membership of 30 Cubs. Throughout the year, we have seen a number of Cubs successfully transition to Scouts, which is a testament to their growth and readiness for the next section. As a result, our current active membership stands at 21 Cubs. While this represents a slight reduction in overall numbers, it reflects the natural progression within the Scouting movement.

We are incredibly proud to report a fantastic year for badge attainment. Our Cubs collectively earned a grand total of 260 badges over the last year. This impressive figure includes:

Our programme was designed to be engaging, educational, and adventurous, offering a wide variety of experiences for all Cubs. Key activities undertaken include:

Camping remains a cornerstone of the Cub experience, and this year we successfully ran three distinct camps, each offering unique developmental opportunities:

14

Leadership Team

The success of the Wednesday Night Cub Pack is directly attributable to the dedication and hard work of our five-strong leadership team. We have collectively had the immense privilege of meeting, guiding, and getting to know some truly amazing young people. Witnessing their growth, enthusiasm, and the development of their skills and character has been incredibly rewarding.

It has been a truly memorable and impactful year for the Wednesday Night Cubs. The variety of activities, the significant number of badges earned, and the challenging camp experiences have provided our Cubs with invaluable life skills, a strong sense of community, and countless fun memories. We look forward to another year of adventure and growth for our pack.

Graham Embleton

Cub Section Lead Volunteer (Wednesday)

We’ve had another fun and varied year at Thursday Cubs.

We currently have 21 cubs, with 4 due to move to Scouts mid September when Monday Scouts have space. We will be welcoming some new cubs at the beginning of term. At the moment we have 1 Cub Team Leader, 5 team members and 2 Young Leaders. We are pleased to have welcomed Damo Lyall to our team recently. Bella stepped away as a young leader recently and we wish her all the best with her scouting activities elsewhere. Very sadly we are losing Nathalie, our wonderful Raksha, in September. She has decided after 10 years service it is time to step down. We would like to thank her for everything she has done for our pack and the group. She is a very integral member of our team and will be very much missed.

We still have a good cohort of parents that are willing to help out when necessary and we thank them all for their time helping us.

Our cubs have earned 5 Chief Scout Silver Awards and 60 challenge badges over the year plus numerous activity badges.

We started our year in September 2024 with a lovely visit to Allington Lock and a talk from the lock team. We also had a bat walk at Vinters Valley Nature Reserve complete with bat detectors. We

15

joined in the Rememberance Parade through Maidstone for the first time in a few years and made our own poppy wreath to lay on the memorial in Brench;ey Gardens. We completed our Chef’s badge with picking ingredients out of a hat and making a 2 course meal the following week with some fantastic meals made. December was all about Christmas with Christmas craft, Kent Scouts Christmas party at Lower Grange Farm and then our own party with food and games to finish the term.

Spring activities included an International evening run by cub parents and their cubs to celebrate and showcase the wonderful cultural diversity we have in our pack. We then celebrated Chinese New Year the week after to complete our International badge. We also made bird boxes from kits created especially for us – big thanks to Raksha and Bobby for doing this. They were fantastic and at least one was used by nesting birds in the spring. We also had a fun wall climbing session, pancake night, and built some Airfix models, finishing off with our annual chip shop hike.

Summer term included the St George’s Day parade with a fantastic turn out from the Cubs. We had our annual sausage sizzle plus pond dipping,. duck racing at Loose stream, kayaking, climbing and S’Mores at Hamlet Wood. We also managed a riverside hike, mini olympics, replanting the wooden planter outside the hut, which now looks fantastic and finishing off the term with wide games , rounders and a picnic with parents and siblings to celebrate the end of the year.

In May we attended the District Beaver and Cub Pirate camp at Hamlet Wood for 2 nights with lots of fun activities and learnt lots of skills. In July our Sixers, Seconders and older cubs attended our Sixer and Seconder camp at Hamlet Wood.

We are looking forward to more fun over the next year, welcoming new cubs and learning more new skills.

All this wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic Thursday Cubs leadership team of Nathalie, Ray, Zaye, Carrie, Jess, Rikki , Damo and our 2 Young Leaders, Edie & Alex. Thanks also to the parents who have helped out when we have needed extra adults, and in general the support of all the parents, it has been much appreciated. Of course the biggest thank you goes to our Cubs, who are the most fantastic group of young people and make us look forward to seeing them each week.

A big thanks to all the St Luke’s leaders, who are always on hand to help out or to give advice, and to my family for allowing me the time for planning, preparing, training and camps etc to be able to run Thursday Cubs.

This past year has been a productive and engaging time for the Monday Scouts. We are currently supporting 28 young people, 2 young leaders, with the assistance of 4 leaders weekly. We said farewell to 4 scouts as they moved further in the scouting journey, up to explorers, in which we wish them the best of luck and hope that they come back to visit. We welcomed 12 new scouts as they joined us from cubs or other scout groups.

We witnessed a variety of meetings and events that provided ample opportunities for our young members to learn new skills, build friendships, and enjoy the outdoors. Among the highlights was our Winter Camp in February, which allowed everyone to revel in the joys of camping in the winter months. Our swimming sessions at Larkfield also proved popular, where Scouts enjoyed both the challenges and pleasures of aquatic activities.

Throughout the year, we held numerous meetings covering a wide range of topics. The Scout Skills Extravaganza at Penenden Heath was particularly well received, where Scouts could showcase their skills in a range of fun challenges. Other activities included a nature photography session at the Maidstone Library, a Board Game night, and various patrol-led evenings that enhanced teamwork and camaraderie. Special nights such as the End of Year Party and St George’s Day celebrations were memorable occasions for all involved.

A notable achievement this year was the presentation of 5 Chief Scout Gold Awards, reflecting exceptional dedication and commitment to Scouting among our members. 55 Challenge badges have been awarded. These challenge badges highlight the hard work that our young people bring to the scout troop. In total, the section awarded an impressive 185 badges over the year, highlighting the achievements of the Scouts. This is an important milestone for our members, and we are proud of their accomplishments.

It is important to take a moment to thank our dedicated leaders who make it all possible. A special thanks goes to Nicola, Alfie, and Dave for their invaluable contributions and support. We also appreciate the effort of Carrie, Halvor, Jim, and Zaye, whose assistance has greatly aided the smooth running of our section. Additionally, we must acknowledge our young leaders, Patrick and Edie, for their fantastic work with the young people, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session. As we look ahead to the upcoming year, the excitement continues. We can look forward to more camps, engaging escape room activities, visits from emergency services, and a trip to the Hazlitt Theatre for the local gang show. These plans promise further enjoyable experiences for our Scouts.

We look forward to another year filled with growth, adventure, and new opportunities in Scouting.

Since the last AGM Friday scouts have continued to enjoy as many activities as we can invent.

The troop remains a steady 23, made up of 10 girls and 13 boys giving the troop a really good balance of demands and expectations. We continue with a regular leadership of myself, Neil, Asa and Matt. Throughout the year we have enjoyed taking part in the town’s remembrance service and St George’s day Parade. Neil organised our first camp of 2025 with a winter camp at Hamlet wood. Unfortunately, our microlighting experience was cancelled due to bad weather, we hope to re book soon as this is a real highlight of the scouting year.

At time of writing, we are preparing to go to Ilkley in Yorkshire for our Annual weeklong camp with Monday Scouts. You will have to wait for the report and pictures of the scout’s experience.

We were able to use Coxheath’s minibus and re-establish the troop’s annual crazy golf and chips at Herne Bay trip. Great fun and a stunning sunset. We look forward to welcoming some new members to the troop in September, former cubs and some new to scouting.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who make this volunteering experience possible.

Gav,

Thank you for your tireless hard work in the role of Group Scout Leader, I can honestly say that my role of Scout Leader has been made easier knowing that your experience and knowledge is only a phone call away. And I wish you well in your new role.

Thank you to the 2025 Annual Camp Leadership Team, for picking up the reins and sorting out the final arrangements while I was away supporting my father during his spell in hospital.

Thank you to Neil, Asa and Matt for giving your time and enthusiasm to make everything work.

Thank you to our parents who trust their children into our care and support us in our endeavours.

And to my wife and children who without their support I would not be able to volunteer and enjoy such a rewarding experience.

It has been a busy year for Jaguars, a change of leadership a year ago with Halvor taking over the ESL role from Henry Mann and thoroughly enjoying the new challenge. We have an enthusiastic leadership team working closely together to deliver an exciting and diverse program of activities for our Jaguar Explorers. The Jaguars are an excellent group of enthusiastic young people keen to attend sessions and have fun.

The winter months of 2024 were spent developing hiking and cooking skills with one team entered for the Winter survival challenge. We are hugely proud that our team completed the challenge in great spirits showing amazing teamwork and were one of the very few teams to complete the challenge.

Through the year we have enjoyed core scouting skills with teamwork at the heart of the programme, plus a large slice of fun along the way.

The Explorers are attending the KIJ festival for the first time which looks to be an action-packed week of activities with the opportunity to meet scouts from all over the world. More news and pictures on that after camp!!

Through the year we have made fires (because we can), built shelters and eaten very well (I can recommend cooking bingo, a request from the Jaguars and an amazing feast of foods). Activity wise we have been climbing, bowling, completing new hikes (with some really very good orienteering skills on show), swimming, Air rifle shooting, Archery and trebuchet Flaming Tea Bags ... Wide games as always on the schedule plus rounders, football and more.

We very much look forward to the year ahead.

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of St Luke’s (Maidstone) Scout Council

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the St Luke’s (Maidstone) Scout Group for the year ended 31 March 2025

.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the St Luke’s (Maidstone) Scout Group you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the St Luke’s (Maidstone) Scout Group accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the St Luke’s (Maidstone) Scout Group as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
