## **Group Scout Leader Report**

Last year at our online AGM, we noted that it had been a strangest of years. The strangeness has continued! At the time of the last AGM there was no face to face Scouting and we were still all at home and our sections were meeting online. The hut was visited weekly to ensure that everything was OK and the Exec Committee were meeting online.

All Sections worked incredibly hard to make the effort to move scouting online, leaders walked 5 miles to deliver resources, and Scouting art St Luke’s continued in the new normal.

3

In September after a lot of work and paperwork - St Luke’s were the only group in the District that managed to open to all sections.

The outside marquees have survived all weathers -snow/wind/torrential rain as did all the young people and leaders!

We also managed a Rule of 6 Leader working party to get the hut ready, It was painted completely outside, Rewired and cleaned – along with all the spiders removed!

Then it all went wrong, all meetings were suspended in December, pre-empting the national lockdown we were back to square one and a half!

Zoom, zoom, zoom…. We were already to restart due to all the work that had been done earlier in the year.

In March we got the nod and we were off after Easter!

All Sections got going immediately, the group was thriving again, Beavers went from 6 to 20 in a few weeks. Cubs grew and grew with the influx of 14 Beavers and outside interest. Scouts grew and grew and Explorers is now bigger than ever. The waiting list is out of control. Sections have enjoyed Micro lighting, canoeing, planning for camps, rambling and lots of games.

Meanwhile in the hut the floors were replaced and a big thanks to Dave and Anna for redecorating. The Gas cage has been installed and the poorly working Oven was replaced. The gates are painted and we have plans for the den and kitchen.

All has relied on the fantastic team of leaders. We said goodbye to Martyn Cummings in Beavers, and joined by Heather Brooks and Sarah Davies. Freya Russell at Wednesday Cubs, Occasional helpers at cubs (Darren, Ricky, Steven and Lisa). Heather is now Deputy District Youth Commissioner and Ben - District Network Commissioner.

St Luke’s Scout Group relies on a team of very dedicated and wonderful volunteers, I cannot overstate the difficulties that they have faced this year and the brilliance with which they have tackled them. I am extremely proud of them all.

Thanks to Jim and the Executive committee who have taken the opportunity to move the HQ and its grounds into a better state than they were pre-pandemic. Dave Hubble, excellent Treasurer bit also for taking deliveries for the hut and checking when the weather was bad. Sarah Davies for moving to Beavers and Sarah wood for being an excellent AGSL.

Thanks to all those behind the scenes – Partners and families who give so much without being an official part of the team.

Thank you to the Parents and Young People without whom we simply wouldn’t have a group - the resilience has and enthusiasm has carried us through such a difficult period. We were scared that we would lose large numbers during Covid but this simply hasn’t happened. In fact, we are now a bigger group that in March 2019. This is testament to the hard work and dedication of the leaders.

This past year opportunities have been taken, improvements to Drive forward made. The committee’s and the support team roles were more important than ever. The role of the GSL is often about risk assessments and admin but 2020-2021 – certainly was the year of Risk assessments/guidance and Admin and hut maintenance – this was the year of the GSL!

More than ever we have proven that our Scout Group continues to be amazing and long may it continue. To mark this period, you will have seen on social media that we have installed the totem pole which will be there for the future to enjoy. Thanks top Tracey and Jim Lakin for providing the scaffolding.

By being here you are showing that you believe that this group and its volunteers are worth supporting and provide something extremely special to the young people of Maidstone. It could, should and would be even bigger if we simply had a few more adults to move things forward, we are extremely flexible so please let us know if you are interested.

Jim Martin followed and thanked Gavin for all his phenomenal amount of hard work and it is really appreciated by all involved in the group.

## **Election of Officers for 2021/22**

Jim moved on to the election of the Group Executive Committee members.

Gavin nominated Jim Martin as Chairman and thanked him for all his support.

Clare Foulsham was nominated for Group Secretary by Jim Martin; the motion was seconded by Anna Brooks and agreed by the meeting.

Dave Hubble was proposed by Jim Lakin. Seconded by Rob McAfee, and agreed by the meeting.

4

Jim stated that parents can join the Group Executive and become Trustees, The committee helps to ensure the group runs safely and keeps control. If anyone is interested please speak to Gavin or Jim.

## **District Commissioner Address**

Thanks for invitation, and lovely to see everyone. Well done top everyone at St Luke’s, you have been the Forefront of scouting in Maidstone, the most resilient to keep going, entertain the young people. Very well done to Leaders, Exec, parents.

Scouting is taking off everywhere, numbers growing. Beaver Fun day yesterday at Hamlet wood – this made it all worthwhile.

The hut looks amazing – long may you continue and we look forward to seeing you at further events.

## **Presentations**

2 Beavers invested by Derek Long. Wood Badge – Graham Embleton Good Service – Dave Brooks Good Service and Wood Badge for AGSL – Sarah Wood Award for Merit - Rob McAfee

Silver Wolf – Peter Taylor (Jim Martin explained this is the highest award that can be given and it will be presented to Peter at another occasion)

## **Close of Meeting followed by afternoon tea**

The official part of the meeting closed at 3.45pm The Scouts have made Scones and chocolate biscuits. Thank you to all for coming.

## **CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2022**

2022 has been a very active year for the Group and young people have accessed some amazing opportunities, after what has been an unprecedented couple of years. Throughout the pandemic Scouting continued via zoom, face to face when it could and resumed as we know it as soon as was possible. I would like to thank the leaders on your behalf for all the hard work, effort and enthusiasm they have shown during this time. Without their dedication young people would not be taking part in activities, making new friends and learning new skills.

If you would like to get involved with Scouting at St. Luke’s – you can! Whether it be as a Leader, fundraiser, supporter or committee member, there are lots of roles and opportunities that require just a few hours of volunteering time. Volunteering is good for you, the community and benefits everyone.

A big thank you too, to the Group Executive who have spent time ensuring that the Group is on a sound financial footing and everything is kept up to date. During the last couple of years, it has been challenging and we are grateful to the Government for the Covid Recovery grants which we benefitted from which have enabled us to re-wire the headquarters, lay new flooring and transform our tree into a totem pole!

Please think about ways you can help the Group. Perhaps you could run a marathon, hold a cake sale, buy something and use easy fundraising, maybe even leave a legacy – every little helps!

Being part of Scouting is fun, worthwhile and rewarding, so get involved!

Jim Martin Group Chairman

## **TREASURER’S REPORT 2022**

The group consolidated account for the year ended 31st March 2022 has been compiled and is published following this report. To the best of my knowledge, the accounts have been prepared in full accordance with the rules and guidelines as prescribed by the Charity Commission and policy, organisation, and rules of the Scout Association.

## **Receipts and Payments Account Summary**

I am very pleased to be reporting on a healthy set of accounts. A year that has been a bit more like normal after the previous two years. The Group has achieved a surplus of over £5000 which has been helped with the group receiving a full year of subscription fees. The group finances have also been helped by Covid-19 grants from Maidstone Borough Council.

It has been nice this year to be able to get back to spending more of our funds on various outings as well as provisions for meetings at the hut. With hopefully much more to be spent in the coming year. We have also spent some of group funds on the upkeep of the hut.

The accounts summary is the same as the last few years, which we hope is clear to read. On the next page shows a summary of the receipts and the payments as well as the funds held by the group at the end of the year. We only publish the abbreviated account, however if you wish to view the full set of accounts, we’ll be pleased for you to view them this evening or you will be able to do so on the Charity Commission website in the coming months.

## **GSL REPORT 2022**

Anyone who has heard me speak in the past at the AGM or elsewhere knows that I am immensely proud of our Scout Group and believe that it is somewhere special where amazing things happen for the young people of Maidstone. All the information that follows my report is much more interesting than my summary and I am once again blown away by the fantastic achievements of our leadership team and our young people.

## **Group Membership**

At the time of the census in February, there were **122** members in the Group, including the adults. Due to the way Scouting works, this doesn’t take into account the Explorer Scout section (as it’s not technically part of the group – don’t get me started!) where there are another 35 young people and an active leadership team.

## **Leadership**

There has, as always, been some changes to our leadership team over the course of the year.

**Dave Brooks** announced that he would prefer to step down to the Assistant Scout Leader role on a Monday and continue his fantastic work with the whole group in that position. I was very happy to support his wishes and would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his invaluable contribution to the group and to the Monday nights in particular where he was excellent as Scout Leader and where he will continue to be an excellent part of the team. The Monday night Scout Leader role will be taken on by **Torz Dervisoglu** and **Halvor Wood** who, I know, have some great plans!

Also on a Monday night, **Rose Bright** has moved to Liverpool to train as a teacher and so is stepping down from her ASL role. We wish her all the best for the future. She has been a part of St Luke’s for a very long time and we hope that she visits when she is back. **Alfie Spencer** has turned 18 and has joined the team on a Monday night – he did so during Annual Camp this year!

On a Thursday night, **Olaf Revell** has moved his role from Section Assistant to Assistant Cub Scout Leader and has made a great start to the training. Thank you so much for all the support that you continue to give Sam.

As you will know, our Leaders have a training programme of their own to complete and it has been great to support them all in making progress through it. Congratulation to Neil & Sam Hurley for completing their Wood Badges and to the Hurleys & Graham Embleton for gaining their Nights Away permits.

## **Events**

## **Remembrance Day Parade**

The turnout for Remembrance Day parade at St Luke’s was absolutely mind-blowing, as were the contributions to the decorations for the very special service. Thank you very much to all who came.

## **St George’s Day Parade**

As always, we had a good attendance at St George’s Day parade with lots of members turning out. Thank you very much for showing the town how great our group is and making us the biggest group on the day.

## **Thanks**

The role of Group Scout Leader is to ensure that everything is in place for the Leaders to enjoy what they’re doing and provide some excellent experiences for our members. I know that you will join me in thanking all

the section leaders **Derek “Rikki” Long, Dave Brooks, Graham Embleton, Sam Hurley, Henry Mann** and **Jim Lakin** as well as all their team members.

I must thank **Jim Martin** who is an extremely supportive Chairman and all the members of our Group Executive committee who provide such amazing support in helping with our decision-making and making sure that the group continue to thrive. I am ably supported by **Sarah Wood** as Assistant Group Scout Leader who pulls me out of moments of stress and gives me a shoulder to cry on every now and then, whilst also taking on all the challenges of running a group with such enthusiasm! Every year I thank **Cath, Amie** & **Tom** who allow me to give up so much of their time to come here and do what needs to be done and this year is no exception.

Finally, I need to thank **you** the parents for supporting our events and group so fabulously and to our brilliant members who simply make the whole thing worthwhile.

More than ever, the group needs more adult help – on our exec, in Leadership roles, on our fundraising committee or simply to mow the lawns and help us to look after the place. If you can spare even the smallest amount of time and want to contribute to something amazing, please talk to any of the Leaders tonight.

Gavin Mills Group Scout Leader

Because of the pandemic having disrupted normal Beavering I have included some information and statistics that might not, in normal times, have been included in this report but have not been reported anywhere else.

At present we have 20 Beavers, 15 boys and 5 girls. During the last year (plus a few extra weeks) we have invested 28 Beavers, 8 Beavers have gone up the Blue River to Cubs and 3 have left the movement.

The pandemic made it difficult to cover the training schedule but we managed with a few compromises. For example, because it was almost impossible to organise a camp or sleepover for the Outdoors Challenge Badge, we decided to accept a sleepover with friends or relatives so long as a parent was not present. I had to clear this with the ADC but hope to be able to go on doing it for some of the more hesitant children. I think it is true to say that the pandemic will have changed some things forever.

We have awarded 10 My Adventure Challenge Badges, 11 Personal Challenge Badges, 12 My Outdoors Challenge Badges, 11 My Skills Challenge Badges, 12 Teamwork Challenge Badges and 12 My World Challenge Badges. 12 Beavers have been presented with the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award which is the highest award a Beaver can get.

We have presented 5 Joining In Badges (the first year Badge) and so far as Activity Badges are concerned we have presented 17 Creative Activity Badges, 16 Experiment Badges, 20 Health and Fitness Badges, 14 Safety Badges, 16 Cook’s Badges, 19 Disability Awareness Badges, 16 Explore Badges, 18 Hikes Away 1 Badges, 12 Nights Away 1 Badges, 1 Space Stage 1 Badge, 1 Collector Badge Stage 1 and 1 Air Activity Badge Stage 1.

We have enjoyed a full range of activities during the year and our programmes have covered a wide variety of topics which have qualified the Beavers for the Challenge Badges. We visited Mote Park, Penenden Heath and Cuckoo Woods. We had several international evenings with appropriate food. We had our traditional Walk in the Dark. We ended the summer term with our traditional sausage sizzle and tiger hunt in Cuckoo Woods. It was the hottest day in recorded history so Halvor was quite heroic for sizzling the sausages and we are very grateful to him. We must also thank William for playing the part of the tiger this year.

12 Beavers attended the District Beaver Camp at Hamlet Wood in June this year and thoroughly enjoyed themselves despite a spectacular thunderstorm which fortunately did not happen until after they had gone to bed. We also attended the District Beaver Fun Day at Hamlet Wood in September last year which I don’t think has been reported previously. 3 Beavers attended the Group trip to the District Gang Show on the 9th April this year. We had a great turnout for the joint District St. George’s Day Parade on the 24th April this year and, as usual, our Beavers were a credit to the Group and their leaders were very proud of them.

So far as the adults are concerned Martyn Cumming has left us which is very sad but we owe him a huge debt of thanks for all that he did and are very grateful to him. On a brighter note we have been joined by Mrs Sarah Davis as an Assistant Beaver Scout Leader and she is proving to be pretty wonderful! We have also been joined by Mrs Victoria Wisniewska as a Section Assistant. Victoria is a Beaver’s mum and we are really enjoying having her with us. Heather Brooks is now a full ABSL and is doing a great job (as always) but is pretty busy with university work at present although she still Beavers whenever she can. We wish her well with her studies. Sarah Wood, the Assistant Group

Scout Leader, has been working with Beavers ever since we came back from the pandemic and we are very lucky to have her. The Beavers love her. We also have her son William who is a Scout and is very helpful indeed at Beavers.

I should like to thank Gavin, the Group Scout Leader, for all his help, encouragement and support during the year. Thanks to all the Leaders and members of other sections who have helped. I know there are people who I have forgotten to thank and I hope they will forgive me. Despite my forgetfulness I am as grateful to them as I am to everyone else.

Thanks to the parents who have turned up when asked. Finally thanks, of course, to the parents for trusting us with their children because, as I have said many times before, there is no greater trust that you can put in anyone.

D.F.LONG (Rikki) -Beaver Scout Leader

We have another exciting year with lots of exciting activities from competing in athletics, looking at my faith, Helping the community by litter picking, chasing each team around after laying tracking tails, making music from recycled objects a film night watching the jungle book finishing last term with a game Laser quest.

As a pack we went away to Hope hill camp site where the cubs cooked on an open fire, had a go at archery as well as staying out for two nights in a tent.

Next term we have more challenging and active things planned from Wide games to making a compass from bits around the house, den building in the forest, making a stool to an evening Kayaking.

The cubs have been awarded 160 badges this year. Ranging from chief scout silver award through the challenge badges to activity badges. We are yet to get an order to enable another 89 badges that are due to add to the 160 already awarded this year.

We have grown from 15 to a current number of 22. Including changes to the leadership team as we have gain two amazing new helpers Richard and Chris of whom I could not do without but loosing Christine who added so much to the section.

The section has generally flourished in the last year with the cub’s thoroughly enjoying their activities. As we grow we are always looking for new help so if you can spare an hour and a half a month or more please let us know.

Graham Embleton Cub Scout Leader (Wednesday)

We’ve had a varied year at Thursday Cubs, trying to get back to some sort of normality after the pandemic.

We currently have 21 cubs, having sent 5 up to Scouts at the end of the summer term, with another 6 due to move to Scouts after October half term. We will welcome 1 new cub at the start of term in September. We currently have 1 Cub Scout Leader, 2 Assistant Cub Scout Leaders (including Ben, but he is currently at university), 3 Section Assistants and 2 Young Leaders. We are still stretched leader-wise due to the number of cubs but we now have a parent rota to help out when necessary.

Our cubs have earned 9 Chief Scout Silver Awards and 74 challenge badges over the year plus numerous activity badges.

We started September 2021 with 30 cubs in our pack and had a packed programme of activities including sixer and seconder leadership skills; Cub Olympics; tobogganing; fireworks; Halloween cooking; chip shop hike and reverted to online sessions before Christmas.

11

Spring activities included planning, building our planter; making our own rope, pioneering skills and a history tour of Maidstone.

Summer term included the St George’s Day parade with a fantastic turn out from the Cubs. April also saw me on stage taking part in The Maidstone Gang Show which was completely out of my comfort zone but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone in the Group that came to see the show and support the St Luke’s cast members.

We managed our annual sausage sizzle plus pond dipping, raft racing and Jubilee picnic at Loose stream, kayaking, finished and planted up the planter (which looked amazing when it was in bloom), did a litter pick at Penenden Heath with our local councillors, an evening of tomahawk throwing and finished the term with a bike ride and picnic.

We re-started camps in June with a Sixer and Seconder Camp with 11 cubs at Hamlet Wood, which was my assessment camp to gain my Night’s Away Permit. We concentrated on outdoor cooking, camp gadgets, and outdoor skills. We had a fantastic campfire singing (you wouldn’t have believed there were only 11 of them) and introduced them to campfire skits. It will forever be remembered as the campfire where Akela’s shoe caught fire!!

In July we took part in the District Cub Camp, again at Hamlet Wood with 19 of our cubs attending. It was a Wild West themed camp which included making dream catchers, making signs with branding irons, a blindfolded rope trail, a hike plus campfire songs. Considering for most of them it was their first camp in tents we were so proud of how they all managed the experience.

It’s been wonderful to get back to doing Scouting as we know it and catch up on all those skills that were hard to complete during the pandemic. We are looking forward now to more fun for the winter term which will include climbing, archery and swimming, along with some first aid skills.

All this wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic Thursday Cubs leadership team of Nathalie, Ollie, Ray and Rikki plus Ben and Freya when they were home from university and of course our 2 Young Leaders, Jess and Josh. We have also had lots of help from parents too which has meant we have been able to get out and about more during the summer term. It has been much appreciated. The support of all the parents for transport to and from activities away from the hut and anything else we ask of them has helped make everything run smoothly. Of course the biggest thank you goes to our Cubs past and present who are the most fantastic group of young people and make us love doing Cubs with them.

A massive thank you to Friday Scout leader Jim for being our Night’s Away permit holder for our Sixer and Seconder Camp and stepping in at the last moment to help on District Camp. He also came to help with our planter building sessions, teaching the cubs construction techniques and how to use tools safely.

Thanks also to all the St Luke’s leaders who are always on hand to help out or for advice and to my family for allowing me the time for planning, preparing, training etc to be able to run Thursday Cubs.

Sam Hurley Joint Cub Scout Leader (Thursday)

We have had a whole year back face to face with the scouts. Our numbers dropped slightly due to having several scouts going up to explorers during the time we were away and a few that decided for one reason or another to leave us. So, we went down to three patrols, for about 2 weeks! Then we had a great influx of cubs itching to get on with the next chapter in scouts as well as some outsiders liking the look of what we are doing.

During the year we have managed a variety of activities, including getting the whole troop off the floor by building stands and swings and their knots held up! Cooking, always a favourite, celebrating the Jubilee as well as a lot of camp prep to make sure they were as prepared as they could be when we started camping again, which we did as soon as allowed.

During the year we said goodbye to Rosie Bright who has grown up within the troop to become a regular leader on a Monday night, and is now off to pastures new, going to university in Liverpool, good luck Rosie and don't be a stranger when back in Maidstone. We are glad that one of our scouts who became a young leader has turned 18 so has asked to become a leader on a Monday night so welcome Alfie. He survived his first job as a leader by helping on the hugely successful annual camp.

We did a lot of activities with Friday Troop, including 3 camps and micro lighting.

We had 3 scouts go up to explorers recently, one earned her chief scout gold, and I'm glad to say has asked to stay on as our young leader for troop night (Thank you Violet)

The Monday leadership team have an exciting programme set up for next year, with some joint nights with Friday and more camping.

As it stands presently, we have 23 young people (with more to start in September), 1 young leader and 4 leaders.

## **Microlight Event**

23 young people across both Troops signed up for the event. 11 young people have already taken part and were awarded the Kent Microlight Badge. Due to weather conditions 12 young people have had their flight postponed until 16[th] October 2022 for which they eagerly await.

## **St Luke’s Scout Troop - One Troop two Nights**

## **What’s been going on at The Hut….**

Post lockdown saw us returning to face-to-face scouting, much to the relief of all within the group. As restrictions lifted, we were finally allowed to resume our camping programme. The focus for both troops was to get the scouts camp ready, with many scouts having little or no camp experience it was an ideal opportunity to start from scratch and give the scouts the skills to make each camp a memorable experience.

## **October Camp, Hamlet Wood,**

We had the best possible weather for the time of year,

camping out, camp pizzas, Saturday steak dinner , wide games in the dark and a couple of hours service on site to reinstate the woodland path to the campfire circle.

## **Spring Camp, Lordship Wood,**

More good weather! Lordship wood is a lovely green field site next to Horsmonden Church. A more challenging camp as the scouts have to use chemical toilets! The scouts enjoyed target sports - Archery, Air Rifles and Axe throwing being the main activities. Some of our scouts who had moved up to Explorers were able to complete their Chief Scout Gold Awards; running their own weekend, starting with a hike to the campsite and hammocking overnight.

## **Pre-camp Camp, Hamlet Wood,**

A chance for Assistant leader Neil to gain his nights away permit. Pioneering was the theme and a chance to build a working Trebuchet capable of launching some old watermelons down the field!!

## **Annual Camp, Bowling Green Wood Dorset,**

Our first Annual camp since 2019 took us to Lulworth. A stunning campsite in the grounds of Lulworth Castle. The hottest Summer I can remember meant that we were not allowed any outdoor fires, so some changes had to be made to the programme: A walk to Lulworth Cove; A trip to Bovington Tank Museum; A Day at Brownsea Island (the birthplace of scouting); Riding the slides at Splashdown in Poole and a day on site with camp Olympics an Outdoor Indian Banquet followed by a campfire singsong around our newly refurbished Belvedere Lamp.

During our trips out the leaders were greeted by members of the public and staff who commented on how well-mannered and polite the scouts were. We were, and are, incredibly proud of them!

## **St Luke’s on Tour**

Taking these young people away and giving them the opportunity for new experiences is one of the amazing parts about being a Scout Leader but it is only made possible by the fantastic team of leaders I have around me.

14

Other Activities during the year included Microlighting at Old Hay Airfield; Pudding night; Air rifle shooting at LGF; Tea in a Tree; Sausage sizzle and an introduction to Backwoods Cooking.

After our senior scouts moved up to Explorers, our numbers went down only to be replaced by a new cohort of excellent cubs and other young people joining the movement for the first time.

Thanks,

Firstly, I must thank my long-suffering wife, Shoba, for allowing me **not** to grow up!!

Neil, Matt, Ollie, Dave, Torz, Sam, Anna and Gav for all the support over the last year and filling the gaps. Here’s to another exciting year ahead!

Jaguars have had another fantastic year with loads of exciting activities and events.

Our membership has reached an amazing 33 Explorers, which is a brilliant endorsement for the Unit and everything we do! The Leadership Team has remained strong with Paul, Rob, Tracey, Finley and Bob all playing vital roles. We’re looking forward to welcoming an ex-Jaguar Ben as an AESL soon.

The biggest success of the year must be our victory at Winter Survival, which saw us enter 5 teams (more than any other Unit) into the event involving the Explorers hiking late into the night in the cold month of February. Our teams placed 1[st] , 5[th] , 7[th] , 10[th] and 25[th] out of 32 teams – an incredible effort from the Explorers which we are all very proud of.

Our success meant the winning team could be the colour party for the St. George’s Day Parade, at which we had a strong turnout and represented ourselves and Maidstone well.

Throughout the past year we have continued to provide a varied programme for the Explorers including survival skills, pioneering, hikes, camps, rifle shooting, water sports, team building exercises, leadership challenges, caving and loads more. The nights that the Explorers fully plan and run themselves are always a highlight each term – this time round including “bushtucker trials” and “dessert dice roulette”. We also took part in the annual District fireworks and bonfire night at Tovil, which is always a great social occasion for Explorers across Maidstone.

We continue to enjoy the company of our Explorers right through to the age of 18, with many then joining Network Scouts section. It is always a bitter-sweet moment at their last meeting before their 18[th] birthday, but we love to see them get to this point as they have usually grown so much as young adults by then.

As a Unit we are no longer fed by St. Paul’s Scout Group as they have set up their own Explorer Unit, meaning our recent growth has almost entirely come from St. Luke’s – this is testament to the Beaver, Cub and Scout Leaders.

I will take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of my Leaders, without whom we wouldn’t be able to do what we do, and to everyone at St. Luke’s for all of the invaluable support we get as a Unit through our partnership with you.

Here’s to another great year with Jaguars and St. Luke’s!

Henry Mann Explorer Scout Leader

The Group has recorded a surplus of net receipts over payments of £5021.19 for the financial year 2019/20 against a £13704.69 deficit in the year 2020/21. This can be explained by:

- i. A normal year of subscriptions due to less impact from covid ii. Grants from MBC
